Lakeside Hotel

Just spent a great weekend here everything was perfect about the hotel including the staff We ate in the lakeside restaurant and the food was amazing!!!!! Cant wait to go there again,expensive but worth every penny.

Have just returned from a break at the Lakeside Hotel and can just say the place was just fantastic.From the moment we arrived the staff were very helpful,our room was round the front of the hotel overlooking the road it was very clean and large enough for the both of us to unwind. We dined in the John Ruskin and both the food and service was second to none...you must try the sticky toffee pudding. My friend and I stayed at the Lakeside for the New Year Package - 4 nights including meals - I thought the hotel was absolutely top class and the food couldn't be faulted. There was something different on the menu every evening and even the breakfasts differed from day to day. The entertainment was good and I should mention the staff in particular were really very sweet and sincere. We stayed here between Christmas and New Year. It was a three day "recovery break" and a package deal (ie meals included). The room was nice but on the small side for the price. The lake view was lovely. The spa/pool is excellent and the Aveda salon definitely worth a visit. The meals were ok to good, but suffered a bit due to the large numbers of people there I think (eg eggs a bit overcooked, toast a bit cool, creme brulee overdone etc). We stayed at the Lakeside Hotel in September 2005, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had booked to stay for two nights in an executive lounge suite, but when we arrived, we were told that we had been upgraded to Room 56, one of their executive lakeview suites. I spent £600 to get a 'Lake View' room for three nights around my wife's 30th birthday and have to say was completely disappointed with the results. Yes, theoretically you could see the lake, albeit only a tiny patch behind a bungalow and some trees. More problematic however, was the room itself, with a huge damp patch on the wall that set my asthma off a treat. Having just returned we thought the hotel was nice but very overpriced.The pool is however fantastic plenty of room.Breakfast in the hotel is fussy not full english you would expect ours consistered of 2pieces bacon ,1 egg,1mushroon,1tomatoe.yes only 1 so if you are expecting to fill up you will be disappointed.There is a hotel/pub as you turn into the hotel car park called the boathouse we ate here 1 evening and it was very nice and had a nice atmosphere and a hell of a lot cheaper.We have stayed in the hilton,marriots,mallmasion and... more

Had a one night stay at Lakeside, food was excellent in the Lakeview restaurant. Bedroom was great size with a large bathroom but felt the room could have done with a lick of paint.

We have been going to this hotel for the past 10 years and have just returned from a 3 day break in a deluxe lake view room - beautiful. We stayed here in March 2005 and felt the service wasnt up to 4 star standards but not this time the staff were all very attentive. 2 restaurants the ruskins brasserie £32 per head and the lakeview £42 per head (exc drinks). This hotel is perfect in all respects, from the location to the food and service. This was our first time and we will definitely repeat our visit. I cant recommend the Lakeside highly enough and more importantly the staff are the best I have ever encountered. They all deserve a huge thank you!!!
