Ter Reien Hotel Reviews
" We came to stay for New Year... "
Submitted By: Miss G A Lowrey
We came to stay for New Year 2007-2008 - it is a great wee hotel, the receptionist was helpful and had sorted out a problem we had when booking at our end. The hotel is small and compact but the room we had was very comfortable facing out onto a back street which was quiet.
We only had a standard room, but had everything you would need. Only thing we didn’t have was a kettle for hot drinks which would have been good for the cold weather, but the beer made up for that! The shower room was small but extremely clean and modern with a fabulous shower unit. There is a lovely wee courtyard that in summer would be really nice looking out onto the canal.
The breakfast was very good, if you don’t want a traditional English fry up your sorted. Good continental breakie, with all sorts of breads, cheeses, meats, boiled eggs, cereals, teas, coffees, hot chocolate, range of fruit juices and fruits, salads and yoghurts. All you could want, we were stuffed after everything.
All in all a great wee hotel and would recommend to anyone wanting a decent hotel very close to the centre and everything you could want.

" Very central Hotel well within... "

Very central Hotel well within walking distance to tours, canal boat, bus and horse drawn carriage (I noted that the horses were well cared for and kept warm between trips) and close to good cafes for meals and for hot chocolate!
Great for access to the historic part of the city where there is amazing architecture, beautiful waterways, and the new shopping areas if that is what you want. As pensioners we had no difficulty with the walking. We also enjoyed a Salvador Dali exhibition which was reasonably priced.
Hotel somewhat disappointing. Cold bathroom with only hand held shower and no shower curtain. Canal view only accessible from one small window. Room not quite warm enough until we turned the radiators to maximum.
Staff not particularly friendly and breakfast very basic. It was very quiet though and we did not experience traffic noise although we were fairly central. Must say though that their affiliated restaurant (Brasserie Belge) is excellent and reasonably priced.
We travelled by Blue Star Ferries from Rosyth (Scotland) to Zeebrugge (Belgium) and the ship cannot be faulted. Areas and dining for all tastes, comfortable cabins, quiet areas, and very helpful staff. Seamless embarkation and disembarkation.
All in all we had a great time for 3 days.

Osprey's so-called mini-cruises from Rosyth are an excellent way of visiting Bruges.
We found that two nights in Bruges gave exactly the right length of time, arriving in the city around lunchtime Wednesday and leaving again 15.45 Friday.
The Ter Reien Hotel, one of the two cheapest on offer, is genuinely only a short walk from the centre. Our room was perfectly good with decent beds and spacious bathroom, there was a generous buffet breakfast, and the staff were helpful and friendly.
We found numerous restaurants, with budget menus if required, within easy walking distance. The ferry ships are fine, the £20 meal deal offering excellent value.
What more can I say? It all adds up to providing a very cheap and very cheerful city break.

A friend booked this for us, we were guests at a stag/hen do. The rooms are tiny, really small with the shower especially hard to get into for anyone over 6' tall. Also, no hot breakfast was available and the reception is not manned after 11pm. In summary, you have been warned!

If you are booking a stay in this hotel, make sure you book a deluxe room, as it doesn't cost much more but there is a huge difference compared to the standard rooms.
Our room had a brilliant view of the canal which our terrace doors opened out on to. The room was very traditional, with four poster bed and fireplace.
Lovely little hotel - many very nice restaurants close by. Would recommend.

Breakfast was quite basic. No cooked stuff but kept you full for most of the day. The coffee was lovely however.
We would definitely stay here again if we go back to Bruge.
