your money is all they want. On top of a £2,500 deposit (which only holds your date) they dont even so much as contact you until a few months before to guess what?...collect more money. For being a supposed 5 star hotel, you would think they would provide 5 star service.... more

We came here following our wedding at the other Scottish DeVere hotel, Barony Castle in Peebles, and were looking forward a relaxing few days in what we thought was a luxury 5 star hotel. The decor, surroundings and location of the hotel are amazing and second to none,... more

We spent a week at Cameron House, in one of the log cabins that are scattered around the golf course. The setting is beautiful, and no wonder Billy Connolly says that Loch Lomond is the most beautiful place on earth.... It’s definitely up there. In our week, we only had... more

Great but dated
We have stayed here many times since the hotel opened and the setting is fabulous and leisure facilities very good. The staff are always exceptionally friendly and helpful. That said, we concur with previous reviewers that the hotel is now in need of refurbishment and upgrading. The rooms (especially the bathrooms) are looking tired as are many of the public areas. Smollets restaurant is great for evening meals as is the restaurant at the marina but the Georgian Room, while the food is very good, is totally lacking in atmosphere (bright lights, garish carpet and dull furnishings). Other eating suggestions are the Inverbeg Inn and the Lodge on Loch Lomond both north of the hotel (about 20 mins drive).
A little gem
We spent two nights at the Cameron De Vere at the end of September 2005. From the moment that we arrived we were impressed by the friendliness of all the staff. We stayed in a standard double room with a view of the Loch. The room was excellent and the tea and coffee facilities were very welcome. Every day there was fresh home made shortbread. The room was quiet and we didn't hear our neighbours at all. On the first night we ate at the Marina Restaurant & Bar which was very relaxed and welcoming. The second night we managed to get a table at Smolletts Restaurant. The meal was amazing and the staff friendly and helpful. The traditional Scottish breakfast was amazing with terrific views over the Loch. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and hope to return again. Be sure to spend a few minutes with the doorman, he could brighten anyone's day.
lovely loch lomond and cameron house
visited Cameron House 1 9 05, stayed 2 nights. We had a standard room with half-board( on a very good offer). Complained about mattress, these were changed within the hour, brand new ones were fitted. Food excellent, breakfast best ever. especially their muesli and kippers. Staff very good waiters exceptional. Spa facilities great, squash badminton and tennis. Would visit this hotel again.
A lovely hotel and setting
We stayed at the De Vere Cameron House for our first two nights in Scotland. The hotel was beautiful, the setting was unbelievable, the staff were charming and professional. We didn't use the pool facilities, but they were very nice. The food was not the greatest, but we concluded after we finished our week in Scotland, that we weren't on a culinary tour. We did try haggis there and actually enjoyed it. The small bar off the front lobby was charming and very intimate. We would definately return there.
Great location but Tired & Overated
This hotel has a great location but unless you eat in the hotel the options are limited outside. This hotel would have magnificent in its heyday but it looked tired in places and needed a right good facelift. The pool area was nice but again looked as if it needed a revamp. The large bar area looked like something off a British Resort Pier and was totally out of keeping, the restaurant however was very good, a little over-priced but the food was of a high standard if not a bit rich. This establishment is living off past reputations and needs a blast of cash to give it the facelift it deserves, only go if you can get a deal, the rack-rates are very high for a hotel of this standard. 4Star at it's best but 3Star attitudes at times.
The Decadent De vere Cameron house
We stayed at Cameron House for our anniversary and it was a wonderful last night to our trip around the Trossach area. We were greetly warmly by the traditionally attired concierege and dealt with quickly and courteously by the receptionist. We had opted for a deluxe room and on our arrival found it to be traditional, comfortable and immaculately clean. Little touches such as sherry, velvet bedspread, fluffy bathrobes and spa products added a luxurious note to our stay. The view from our bedroom window over loch lomond was simply breathtaking. We had breakfast in Smollets which was buffet style, not cooked to order and therefore slightly disappointing for five star, especially after experiencing the superb Georgian dining room the evening before. The georgian room is the best fine dining restaurant i have ever been to; with superb views, guitarist and the Maitre'd and his team are attentive to your every need without being intrusive. The cuisine was delightful, light and surpising, perfect for a special occasion. Overall i would say this was an excellent hotel in a superb location with excellent facilities and the Georgian Dining Room was definately the highlight of our stay.
Wonderful setting...
We went to stay at Cameron House for a long weekend. The setting was amazing! The nights in Scotland are so much longer, looking out over the loch at dusk was unforgettable. The hotel looked great from the outside, and the staff were impressively attentive without being irritating. The leisure facilities were also impressive. The pools were lovely, and very clean. Breakfast was also excellent with a broad variety of choices. The only thing which let the hotel down was our actual room. It was a ground floor room, and the bathroom, although clean, was dated and disappointing. The double bed, as another reviewer has already said, was also on the small side and fairly lumpy. Generally the room just needed a bit of a facelift to bring it up from 3* to 5* level. These two little niggles though didn't ruin what was on the whole a brilliant two days.
Not 5 Star
Such a beautiful setting on the shores of Loch Lomond in magnificent grounds, on driving in we thought it was going to be fantastic. The entrance to the hotel itself is grand, the doorman in a kilt warmly welcomes guests into the large reception hall. The room we had was shabby (the furniture was old repro and chipped and the old TV gave a poor reception), the double bed was small and the bathroom though well equipped with nice toiletries smelt damp. The carpet was pretty old and looked grubby, the lighting was poor. Nice touches were the small Sherry decanter (not refilled during our stay) and the freshly baked shortbread biscuits. the view from the window was amazing. Breakfast was good and taken in Smollets. Dinner was disapponting both there and at the Marina. The menu in the Georgian Restaurant looked uninspiring so we chose to eat elsewhere. We didn't think much of the leisure centre. Our view was that the whole place needs to be refurbished and reinvented. It's not a comfortable hotel. 5 star prices, which we expected, 5 star friendly helpful service, 5 star location but unfortunately 3 star comfort and facilities.
Absolutely Brilliant!!!!!!
This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in! In fact probably the best! The pool and leisure facilities were amazing and the rooms very large and luxurious with fabulous views over Loch Lomond. The staff were impeccable and courteous at all times. This hotel is luxury and quite nearly faultless however the Georgian Room is extremely overpriced and leaves you still leaving hungry due to the extremely small portions however the Smollets restaurant was a lot better. Stay here for a relaxing break its defintely worth staying there!
Very enjoyable stay
Had a very good stay here last autumn. The staff were very friendly, the room large and well appointed, with lovely views of the Loch. We hired bikes and had a good tour of the area. When we had a problem with one of the bikes when we returned it, they couldn't have been more helpful and took the charge off our bill straightaway. We didn't eat in the hotel restaurants but did try the place attached to the sailing club along the way where the food was fine if a little overpriced (and the decor rather lacking finesse!) Overall, a very positive experience.
