" I returned from an Easter weekend... "

I returned from an Easter weekend break in this hotel in Jersey in the early hours of this morning.

This is a nice hotel. It has recently been redecorated and has a boutique feel to it. I would probably give this hotel an excellent rating except that the reception let it down.

We were booked in for a deluxe room, on the web site these looked very nice and if we had got a deluxe room I am sure we would have been very happy.

However, the hotel had decided to "upgrade" us to a Superior room, this sounds wonderful except the Superior room was right over a generator with a view of what looked like works (obviously a Superior room no one wanted - hence the upgrade).

We immediately went down to reception and said we would not accept that room. They informed us that the hotel was full (it didn't appear to be full judging by the number of people at breakfast, dinner, bar etc) and there was only one other room available which was on the ground floor right on the car park (cars within inches of the window).

This was a standard room. This was smaller than the deluxe we had booked and was also a room no one would really want even if they had booked a standard room.

The room had a nice view of the bay but the curtains needed to be drawn all the time because people were inches from the window.

We were not given a refund on the difference between the Deluxe and the standard. They seemed to be under the impression they had been doing us a favour by upgrading us in the first place and that we were somehow ungrateful for not accepting it.

Another couple in the next superior room also refused it so it wasn't just us that didn't want generator noise.

All that aside if we had been given the room we were booked for this would be a lovely hotel. It has spectacular views of the bay from the restaurant and bar.

Parking is somewhat of a problem they have to juggle cars and you need to leave your keys with them to move it when necessary.

The road up to the hotel is also somewhat hairy, a tiny lane with a sharp right angle blind bend, and steep incline. Prayers need to be said that nothing is coming the other way when ascending or descending.

The Restaurant staff and most bar staff are extremely friendly, albeit the restaurant staff are a little overzealous in clearing you plates, not a leisurely meal but good.
