Les Douvres Hotel

Despite a cold week in June we had a lovely week at Les Douvres. Lisa, Ash and Josef and the rest of their staff did everything possible to make it so. Both of the rooms we occupied were clean and appeared freshly decorated. We ate in the bar most nights and both food and service were excellent. If like us you enjoy a nice friendly atmosphere this is the place to stay. It is also conveniently located for walking along South Coat Path. Mick, Ann & Ethel

Given the reviews currently posted regarding Les Douvres, and its reputation locally of late, it was not without some consideration that I should have made a reservation for last week, whilst on business in the Channel Islands...................Take it from me, whatever you've read or heard about this hotel in recent years, delete it from your mind with immediate effect. Agree with "Unpleasant" review above. We paid nearly £100 b and b, including a 10% on line discount. Very welcoming receptionist when we arrived early, and were allowed to wait while our room was prepared. It seemed we were lucky to catch anyone at the reception, as most of the rest of our stay it was unmanned. Hotel bar is very much the "village local" with sports on the TV. Travelling with someone who is disabled is difficult as few places have ground floor rooms or lifts! Chose Les Douvres as it had ground floor room and the brochure suggested it was nice! Also owned by same propriater as Bella Luce which seemed to have reasonable write ups. Very dissapointing. Rooms very average, needing refurb as did the rest of the hotel. Many of the staff command of english was fragile, they were quite young and there did not appear to be a manager or senior member of staff on site all the time or even... more
