H10 Catalunya Plaza

We just returned from Easter break in Barcelona. We booked the Catalunya Plaza Hotel on base of the other reviews. We stayed 2 nights in room 211 and 2 nights in room 213, both with plaza view. We had to change because of a water leak. The second room was a bit bigger. We had a fantastic view on the plaza, the trees in front of the hotel had no leaves yet. I have never written a review about any hotel before but my husband and I spent 5 days at the Cataluyna from 12th feb to the 16th and I have to say it was brillant. I dont hink a hotel could be in a better situation than this one...right in the centre, right beside the tourist buses and The Ramblas. The hotel itself was beautiful, staff were always friendly and we were immediately offered champange when we arrived. Just back from a weekend at this hotel & would thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting really nice hotel in the centre of Barcelona. I booked after reading reviews on tripadvisor & took the advice I'd read about & requested a room with view over the plaza. We ended up with room 214 - it was quite small but clean & well furnished & views over the plaza were great. My friend and I have just arrived back from Barcelona and we stayed in the H10. I will start with the good points. Great location, pretty much unbeatable directly in the centre with the Old City to the right and the new to the left, great shopping, food and sights. Location of hotel was excellent. Stayed with my daughter in hotel and got straight of the aerobus and really good for tourist buses. English on the television channels was news channels - so not very good when you have a 9 year old. Room 106 DO NOT take - the window is not openable and is frosted! Air conditioning is not on in the winter and rooms were too hot! Asked to change rooms which they did and the window did open but only onto a noisy air shaft - so again no natural light. When booking this hotel, I had no idea it would be so good! The location was perfect, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the 24-hour free champagne and wine service was definitely a plus! We had a room facing the square and inspite of all the traffic below, we didn't hear a sound! We have stayed at many European hotels and this, by far, is the best. We felt like we were at a 5-star hotel but only paid for a 3-star! I definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed 7 nights in Feb 2005 based on reviews on this sight. Starting with the positives... Excellent location, easy walking access to most sights, right on metro and train lines. Great airport access (we took the train) but buses are convenient too. Clean and well appointed except for an odd smell in the stairwell. Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights with my husband for a long weekend break. You can get the bus from the airpot and it drops you across the rd (last stop) for only 3 euro each approx. Hotel brill location walk everywhere! Hotel is really spotless. Receptions staff very friendly. Free tea/coffee/wine/internet from noon everyday, oh and cakes! I stayed at the Catalunya Plaza in November. Its location can hardly be bettered, and good points too for the breakfast buffet, the free internet access and the complimentary drinks during the day. The accomodation, however, was very prison-like: small room, dark, small bed, window overlooking the very noisy generator (or something the like). I couldn't sleep with the window closed for lack of air, and had to put earplugs. Based on many good and positive reviews here, we decided to stay at the Hotel Catalunya Plaza from Dec.4 to Dec.8. What a great location! This hotel could be the closest hotel from the Catalunya Plaza Aerobus bus stop. First night we stayed at the room number 401. We were a little bit dissapointed with the room because we wanted to have a room overlooking the plaza.
