We visited Chevin Park for my nephews wedding which fortunately went without a hitch. I say fortunately as the rest of the stay was not without problems. I booked 2 rooms by phone and asked for written confirmation which did not arrive so I had to phone again. On arrival at the hotel one room reservation was wrong, but luckily the hotel was not full and we were given a family room instead of the executive twin we had booked.
On checking out my mother in law was overcharged by £23, and despite my querying this no attempt was made to check the price was correct. On our return home I confirmed the price on the web and phoned the hotel, to be assured a credit would be issued. Three weeks later this had not happened so I phoned again to speak to the duty manager, who was busy but I was told would phone me back. Surprisingly this hasn’t happened so I am about to make yet another phone call.
Apart from this the hotel is expensive for what it is. When I booked I was told the standard double (for which they charge £118) was really only big enough for one person and they weren’t kidding! The rooms were dusty, lacking in simple things like a towel rail near the wash basin and a shower that didn’t scald you.
The restaurant ran out of orange juice at breakfast - this has never happened to me before, even in a b&b. I feel they are trading on the log cabin novelty - if you want a log cabin experience go to America where they do it properly at a fraction of the price.

A real disappointment, as the hotel has great potential. We booked online and were late arriving, although we did telephone to advise. The only member of staff on arrival was friendly and helpful, but had no training in how to check us in. As a result, when we came to leave, they tried to charge us again for the room that we had already paid for. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed, but the bathroom looked as though it hadn't been cleaned since it was built. The shower and bath area was literally covered in mould and carpets throughout the hotel were filthy and the towels stank. Even before I had a shower, there was hair in the bath, which I really don't think is acceptable. The bath leaked apallingly, so much that the floor flooded. At breakfast, they ran out of plates and nobody seemed to know what to do about it.
Minimal staffing levels, and all of them appeared very poorly trained. Total lack of cleaning to the point of the place being disgustingly dirty. Food good. Bed comfortable. No idea about the rest of the facilities, as I couldn't wait to get away from the place.
There is a sign in reception saying that the place has an award for the best upcoming hotel group in the UK. I can only concluded that the judges must have either been mad, or must have stayed somewhere else.
Unless they can get their act together, definitely somewhere to avoid.
