We booked through Best Western & ensured that we were staying in the actual Castle part of the Hotel so were very excited about the prospect.
When we got there the initial impression was Okay then we got to our room. This was very small, no bath & nothing to indicate you were in a castle. We said we were unhappy & were offered 3 other rooms to choose from. None of them were of we would have expected as a reasonable size & all had very ordinary decor & very ordinary furnishings to the point thatyou would have had no idea thta you were in a Castle at all so waht was the point?!?
We did smaple the food in the Foresters Bar, very bizarre & very unsatisfactory.
We had booked for 2 nights but were so disappointed that we left without staying a night. To date the owners & Best western have refused a refund despite it not meeting our expectations.

Camelot suite was cold, poorly furnished, greatly lacking in attention to detail and stunningly poor value for money.
The food in the two restaurants was variable from poor to moderate depending I guess on the cook on duty.
The grass outside the hotel was neatly cut and the staff were friendly.
If you have more money than sense and dont mind carrying your bag up two floors,no porter available, and have £550 to waste for a two day stay, this is the place for you

My sister was getting married in this hotel, with over 20 family members paying around £250-300 per night, we where paying huge sums of money to Stay in a fairly mediocore Hotel "The Walworth".
They where completly overwelmed by numbers, rooms where on the whole fine, however we where overcharged at every oppurtunity.
We had some issues with service during our stay and with the attitude of some staff members, particuarlly the manager and assistant manager. We asked to see the owner regarding our issues, as the manager's was not at all interested. The owner arrived and basically had the attitude of like it or lump it!
For goodness sake avoid having your wedding at this hotel, avoid staying in it, avoid eating in it unless to get a kick out of being fleeced, the saying the customer is always right goes out of the window at this place.
I have written to Best Western and await a response.

We stayed here for the New Year period and as most of the rooms in the castle were booked we had to opt for a 4-poster en-suite room which was double the normal tariff. However, as we were getting ready for the New Year celebrations, we realised the shower was not working (there was no hot water).
The hotel manager was called and we had to settle for using the facilities of a single room in the awful hotel annexe-we could not change rooms as the hotel was fully booked. The next morning we complained-we paid £160 per night-surely the facilities in the room should be in full working order for this price?
In addition to this there were no towels in the room, the window could not be closed, the general condition was dark, very cold, dusty and unclean. Not the level of standards you would expect for the price we paid!
The manager promised to phone us but has not done so to this date. An email sent via Best Western Hotel customer services suggests a total lack of interest in resolving our issues and the manager has even lied to cover himself.
Is this really customer satisfaction? We haven't even received any apology from the manager at Walworth Castle. Never going back!

We stayed at the Walworth Castle Hotel for our 25th Wedding Anniversary on August 31st 2010 as we had stayed there on our original wedding night. After reading some of the reviews lately I was a bit worried it was going to be a mistake. However on checking in we were welcomed by a very friendly receptionist who asked us why we had chosen them and after finding out about our anniversay made sure we had the original General Aymer suite we had stayed in on our wedding night! The staff couldnt have been more friendly and the food at night was really nice and very well presented. The breakfast was fantastic and the best I've had in a hotel (I've stayed in a lot of hotels!) The room was very comfortable with a great view. We got the "best available dinner bed and breakfast" package and it was great value. All in all we had a great time and would definately recommend it.
