Cahernane House Hotel

We had originally booked to stay at the Arbutus in central Killarney, but after a numer of problems decided to check out. We phoned Cahernane to see if they had any vacancies for that night. They did. Although the hotel is not in cental Killarney, it is still quite close and I actually preferred the fact that it was away from the noise and hustle and bustle of Killarney. While travelling in Ireland for our anniversary we decided to just book the first nights stay near dublin and then go where ever our journey would take us and planned to end up in Shannon after 10 days of seeing Ireland... My husband and I stayed here with another couple for one night. We were staying to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. I booked the Muckross Suite, which is a beautiful suite. It has a balcony which has breathtaking views. Unfortunately we arrived late our only night there (our fault, got lost). The manor house was nice and cleaner than others we stayed at. The location wasn't quite as exciting as we thought. It isn't on the water as many other Killarney hotels are. The ammenities are not quite as quaint as they seem--the bar in the basement seems a little dark. We felt like we were shoved in the attic and the room seemed like something out of haunted house, but all in all it was a pleasent stay. We didn't eat at the restaurant because we felt it was overpriced and Killarney restaurants are an easy drive 5 min away. The bathrooms... more
