Castlerosse Hotel

stayed in one of the golf lodges for a week in may of 2009, it was a wonderful experience, the lodge was very well appointed with 3 bathrooms and very large bedrooms , full size kitchen , sitting room with fireplace and dining area. No problems sleeping it was so tranquil. Great place for a family, play ground, tennis and basket ball court and of course a great swimming pool. Will return for a few more nights at Mulligans Pub in the main hotel

Stayed for one week early August in two bed Golf lodge.The accomadation was excellent three bathrooms.We had three young chidren and Grandad also stayed for 3 nights.Views of lake suberb, lovely walks and when it rained swimming pool was fine. Only eat in Hotel one night we all found the food to be fine.Kids club in the evening was great and they also had film nights which kids loved.Also got to play golf on one occasion - really nice nine hole . After staying at charming, comfortable hotels in Dingle and Portmagee, the Castlerosse Hotel was a huge disappointment. We had hope to stay at another hotel, but, because it was a holiday weekend, we had to stay at the Castlerosse. Absolutely no charm, atmosphere or character. Motel-like rooms, dark and depressing (low wattage bulbs in lamps), except for the view of the golf course and lake. The noise in the corridors was so loud in the room - with people yelling, laughing, banging on doors at 2 a.m.!! Rooms with a view are quite a hike... more

My family spent a week at the Castlerosse in a self-catering cottage in August, and it was wonderful - one of our happiest of many vacation memories! Each bedroom sleeps 3, so it worked very nicely for our group - 2 parents, 2 children, and grandmother. When a cousin joined us at the last minute, the hotel was very accomodating about putting a comfortable roll-away bed in the spacious living area. Just returned from a week at the Castlerosse Hotel in Killarney. We stayed in one of their woodland cottages as we have two small children. Found the location and accommodation perfect. We arrived on a Saturday and on the Sunday my small baby had developed a fever, the staff on reception were exceptional, I had a doctors appointment on the Monday arranged within 10 mins of me asking, they obliged with new sheets and towels when we needed them and were generally very very helpful. I stayed in one of the self catering cottages for a wedding a number of years ago, so my review may no longer be relevant, but here goes. The cottage was probably dirtier than any house I rented at university and that's saying something! The ensuite room stank of mould and damp, I had to clean the room myself on arrival and discovered four sweet wrappers behind the bedside table and a pair of swim goggles and a sock under the bed as well as balls of dust and cobwebs.
