Blackwell Grange Hotel

The Blackwell Grange is very hard to assess because it depends what you are there for. As you can see from previous reviewers this hotel does have a fine outside appearance and inside the older rooms (which I believe are bigger and more expensive) do have the peeling paint, although this is due to English habit of slapping paint over damp ceilings rather cutting out the damp and then painting. Would not recommend - very old, dirty and tatty overall. The bathroom was alive with mould and mildew. Sheets full of holes, electrical appliances in room did not work eg kettle, iron press, TV reception too fuzzy to watch.

Spent Friday - Wednesday at this hotel. I agree with some aspects of the other reviews posted. Yes the hotel looks great from the outside and is probably in need of a refurb but I found it pretty comfortable, clean and quiet even though there was a wedding on Saturday and the RAF turned up on Monday. From the outside the hotel looks terrific: late 17th century country house, vast grounds and golf course. Inside it's very different; the rooms are small, stuffy, not very clean and badly in need of refurbishment. As for the bathrooms, well, the least said... I stay there on business very often, almost once a week. If I had the choice I would go elsewhere at weekends. The place is used for weddings almost every week and the hotel management make no efforts to keep the noise down or the guests sober (it's good revenue for them). If... more
