Raven Hall Hotel

I know some other reviews have slated this place but I loved it. Perched on a clifftop with the wind whistling around you it's the perfect getaway. There are real log fires and a cosy bar where you can get happily tipsy. The restaurant had brilliant views and good food...especially sunday dinner..yum! The room was great....not massive but not teeny - all in all i had a lovely stay and would definitely come again.

The brochure promised a place of relaxation, it could not have been further from the truth. The room was no better than a poorly decorated janitors closet with the noisiest plumbing imaginable.As was the bathroom fan.We requested a room change but was told that was not possible. The evening meal was excellent as where the views from the dining room. Then to bed....the soundproofing off the rooms is that poor that my bed might as well have been situated in the bar. We had our wedding here in September 2003, and although my husband and I found nothing wrong on the day, we heard all sorts of things the following day. Eg, dirty bedrooms with stained sheets (eurgh!), double-bookings,(my mother's booking was nowhere to be found, and they put her in a god-awful room), one tier of the cake went missing. There is too much to list here! We got married in the Great Hall, and the floor was thick with dust, my dress was filthy before I even got down the aisle!
