Derrynane Hotel

Delighted to review this superb hotel. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, large open reception area with breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Wonderful bar & restaurant which includes wonderfully prepared breakfast buffet and/or expertly prepared fries and scrumptious dinners, try the unbelievable smoked salmon at the bar for a snack - if you love irish beef and fresh seafood then this is the place to go. We had an awful experience in this hotel. I was awoken at 3.00am by my boyfriend calling me as he'd been attacked by bed bugs. We found 8 of them on him for a finish. We moved to a new room at 4.00am which smelled damp. The explaination we got in the morning was they were "scirtins" or someting like that, and are quite common in those parts. No local had ever heard of them.

It's been quite a while since I've stayed in this hotel but from what I've heard it's still a little gem! To sum it up: warm friendly staff that are eager to please, fabulous food and wine at very reasonable prices and the view? WOW! We stayed in a seaview room and while the rooms are just average the view is one of the best in Ireland. And I have stayed in MANY hotels in Ireland. Plenty to see and do around the area. Great pubs to have a cold pint of Guinness and some seafood chowder! I think another visit is overdue.....

I'd read a lot of positive reports on this hotel, including the one on this site. I have to say I wasn't all that impressed, although the scenery is second to none. The hotel itself is quite average, the rooms were not terribly comfortable, and my wife and I will probably stay somewhere else next time we go down here. By the way, Cahirciveen is a really nice area, and the views around this end of the Ring are really beautiful.

The Hotel is great, located in a splendid position, and the Hotel management are eager to meet all requests to make your stay comfortable. I do not usually eat steak in Restaurants, since most Chefs' insist on cooking the item to their tastes. Not here! The management insist that the Hotel Guest is the most important person, and here you get a superb meal beautifully prepared to match your taste. Looking forward to next visit TIM
