Dingle Skellig Hotel

This is a great family orientated hotel. Your Children are entertained from 1.00am in the morning to lunch time and then again from 5.00 to 10.30. The children’s high tea consisted of a buffet with lots of choices which actually includes healthy options but they are on holiday so there was also lots of chocolates and ice-cream for desert. I was very disapointed (based on the high price I paid-over €750 for 3 nights). I had stayed here about 4 years ago an d it was fantastic, very frendly. This time however it was run down, Our room had marks running up the walls, the bathroon had bits missing and the shower would not work until I actually took it apart and repaired it myself. The room was cold and draughty. I had a child with me and I can only say that everyone else with children were put on our floor so the noise was bad at night with doors slamming. Ours was a party of six (wife and I, two 18 and 22-year old daughters, and my wife's mother and father). Because we booked relatively late (3 weeks in advance of a busy August weekend), we took an executive suite, junior suite and standard room. All three rooms surpassed all of our expectations. They were very roomy (larger than we had expected), comfortable, and easily equivalent to their "big city, luxury hotel" counterparts. The front desk personnel were very helpful. Our trip through Ireland took us to Dingle, the Skellig hotel, where we stayed two nights. This is a good hotel, maybe the best hotel we stayed in on our tour in Ireland. Everything looks luxurious in a modest way. The room though was excellent. Breakfast was superb. Staff friendly. Looking back I can say that this hotel was what you can expect from a four star place. The Dingle Peninsula is not to be missed when you travel around Ireland!

i was initially put off this hotel by the poor reviews below (as i see others were too), but after staying there i feel i have to add my positive comments. The location, the facilities, the food, the staff and the rooms are all way above the standard that would be acceptable for any similar hotel in the Uk. I loved it and would return in an instant. Kerry is a wild old place, and it was great to use this place as a base to explore it. Paul, Hil and Leigh.

We booked two nights at the Dingle Skellig following rave reviews from Georgina Campbell (Food/hotel writer) about how family friendly it was. The website also said 4 stars and showed a very nice view over some lakes. In practice it's a 2-3 star hotel, rather bland, set in an industrial park or carpark style setting outside Dingle. The family facilities are v.poor. It has a plain small swimming pool (NOT SPA!) half cordoned off for lane swimming by adults. Stayed here for a mid-week break. Was horrified by some of the bad reviews we read just before going but am glad to say we dont agree with them. Our room overlooked the car park but there was nothing wrong with it. Location of hotel is very good, just a few minutes walk to town centre. Food was very good in restaurant, however portion of side dish (ie potato/veg) ridiculously small. Breakfast was ample and definitely hot enough, however it was the same both mornings. Found staff to be very helpful and would definitely stay at this hotel... more
