"Majestic service"
Myself, husband and two daughters have just come back from a Whitsun weekend break at the Majestic and found the whole experience fantastic. We are very frequent weekend break takers and can honestly say this hotel is top notch. We had a premium family room which we did have to pay more for but was plenty big enough for four people. We found the food to be excellent in quality and choice and the service second to none. If you stay DBB you can have the Table D'hote menu inclusive or an allowance towards the A la Carte, children have have... more
A little frayed at the edges!
We spent two nights at this Hotel. On arrival received a quick and friendly check in service. The room was smaller than expected but the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was outdated and in need of refurbishment, tile grout being black and the shower curtain rail rusty. There was a bad smell in the bathroom which we reported, this improved, although the toilet needs to be cleaned with a brush!. The outside of the hotel needs some repars, in particular the bedroom wooden window sills are in desperate need of repair and... more
Lovely hotel in central location
We stayed for a 3 night break over Easter and found the Majestic Hotel a great choice for a relaxing break. it's central location made it ideal for quick wanders around beautiful Harrogate. The food was very good with a varied choice for each evening, we even received a lovely hand made Easter Egg in our room which was delicious. Our room was very comfortable and nicely decorated, I can not fault the appearance of this hotel. Although we went as a couple with no children, I was impressed by the number of families there and they... more
EXCELLENT AT THE MAJESTIC
14TH FEBUARY 2006 Our stay at the Majestic was lovely from arrival to departure. The staff were very friendly and helpful at reception and especially the resturant staff which were very quick and efficiant at there jobs. We stayed on a dinner b&b basis which suited us well there was more than enough choice for breakfast which was buffet style, and evening meal was lovely with a choice of table de hote and alacarte, which u were able to mix. The hotel is only a short walk to near pubs and a little further to the centre... more
Liked the Majestic
We stayed at this hotel for 1 night at Valentine's weekend. It was a last minute decision so I felt lucky I found somewhere in the first place as most 4-star hotels were full. Thus, as I booked the hotel without reading any reviews, I was a bit apprehensive about my decision once I had read them! The hotel was fine though. Maybe we don't have much experience of luxury hotels, but we thought this hotel was fine. Yes, the hotel doesn't look perfect either from the inside or the outside, but I liked the old-fashioned grandeur and I did... more
Faded elegance
We were originally staying here for a company party for one night. We decided to stay the Friday night as well due to the distance from our home. We were offered a special rate to do this. As one of the organizers I tried to book the Friday but was told they were fully booked but I managed to get a room on line. When we booked out we were charged £25 more than promised and had a real struggle to get the agreed rate. Also the hotel was nearly empty on the Friday. The room we had was a premier family and although large it was quite shabby... more

Thank you for your comments. I am very sorry for the problems you encountered. Reading your review these could have been avoided. May i stress that the issues you have raised will be investigated to ensure better service for all our customers. I am dissapointed you will be not returning to the Majestic in order for us to redeem ourselves. We have so many satisfied customers it is such a shame you will not be one of them. Here at the Majestic our customers are our no 1 priority, as you will see on tripadvisor we are one of the few hotels who read and respond to negative comments, not only that but we do take action in rectifying any issues. The only compensation i can offer is your comments will not be ignored.

dont let outside put you off
On first arriving its not that pre-possessing as it does look a little like an old hospital. However, the check-in was fast, friendly and efficient. The room was more than adequate and bigger than most of this price range. The lack of Sky Sports was the only disappointment for me but the fact we slept like logs made up for that. Food especially the 3 course set menu is tremendous value and I cant see why it has not been highly praised in other reviews. The service is attentive without fawning all over you . Pool... more
Dirty, dated , shabby
We arrived at 2pm ( in heavy rain) the advertised check in time and were kept waiting until almost 5pm! Attempts to enquire when the room was going to be ready were treat with surly indifference. We sat in a huge scruffy waiting area and no drinks were offered. We had our dogs with us, I confirmed this on the phone and checked if additional costs apply and told no. When we checked out £15 was added for extra cleaning. When we got in the room, it was a great size but dated decor and furnishings. Husband had to wash the cups out before... more

We always welcome feedback from our guests. Not only does it higlight any areas we need to improve upon but ensures our customers are happy. The Hotel has undergone a large refurbishment of bedrooms in 2005, we have also updated our public areas and future refurbishment is planned from February 2006. Our Reception areas is far from shabby, however i appreciate peoples personal preference. We do advise our rooms will be ready from 3.00pm onwards, as we are a very busy hotel due to being fully booked the night prior, it can on very few occassions run over this time but we always over a complimentary drink. I do apologise on this occassion that does not seem to have happened. The Dog charge is for the comfort of the following guests after pets have been in a bedroom. Cleaning is alot more extent due to any smell or dog hairs. However i have been informed by residents with dogs this is alot cheaper than kennels. It is always unfortunate when we get a bad review when the others are so complimentary. Mainly for the guest that stayed with us, i do hope despite the comments that you will return to the Majestic so we can redeem ourselves so you can enjoy the quality and service that we pride ourselves on.

Friendly efficient hotel
Just returned from a 2 nights stay at the majestic, having read some bad reviews I was a bit worried but I got a pleasant surprise, the rooms were far larger than average and spotlessly clean, the staff extremely polite and happy to attend to my every need, I ate in the restaurant the first night of my stay and can honestly say that I cant remember receiving such personal service the food was excellent and the menu varied. A modern hotel it's not but a beautiful period hotel it is!
Grand in every sense
We booked two nights at the end of July on a really good internet deal and stayed a third night because it was so relaxing and opulent in it's faded Edwardian grandeur. Excellent position, comfortable room, great buffet breakfast, friendly and attentive staff and generally well managed. We didn't eat there in the evening purely because we wanted something a little less formal, but the menu was very attractive and looked really good value. It has a sense of history and style. would certainly go back-especially at those prices.
