Highly recommended - fab food
from lesleyjb
We stayed for 2 nights at the Kimberley Hotel and were more than happy with the accommodation, breakfasts and staff. The room we had a was lovely - well decorated, spotlessly clean and supplied with everything we needed. Our room was on the top floor and was very quiet. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts were fanastic! (Even the scrambled eggs were edible which is unheard of from a buffet style breakfast.) The bar - which, thankfully, is completely non smoking - also carries a comprehensive range of drinks, and we weren't fleeced on the prices. We would definitely recommend the Kimberley and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again when in the area.
Would recommend

A friend and I stayed here for one night in a standard room and chose it because of it excellent location near to the International Centre where Bryan Ferry was appearing. It was hard to fault the hotel, as the room was very clean, good size, nice bathroom etc. Breakfast was excellent, staff friendly and there was ample car parking. However, the pillows (as previously reported here), are the most uncomfortable I have ever encountered, and the bed was very hard too, making a good night's sleep very difficult. Had these been in order I would have rated the hotel as excellent.
Shame about the bed... and the girl on the desk.
from Silkman_fan
A nice location, good food and bar spoilt by what can only be described as the most uncomfortable bed we have ever tried to sleep on. If you like hard beds with bits sticking in your back this is the place for you - Otherwise avoid. Asked for a room upgrade but they didn't have any available. As my wife checked out we were told by the girl on the desk we had to pay for an extra night as it was one hour after the normal checkout time!! No one had tried to enter the room to service it and there is no reference to the checkout time on any of the literature in the room. Needless to say we didn't pay for the extra night. This place has the potential to be a good hotel but it needs new beds and has some serious staff training issues.
great hotel

A revelation
from PhilHuff
We found this hotel almost by accident, as we required a last minute unplanned trip to Harrogate. Despite near endless searching, this was the only hotel I could find a room at, so we had little choice. Booking via the Air Miles website, we got a double room with breakfast for about £85. I'll say at this point that we normally stay in the premium chain hotels (Hilton, Radisson and the like) as, although they're rarely interesting and never particularly memorable, you do generally get a consistent standard of both accommodation and service. I've stayed in a number of independent hotels where standards were simply so poor that I'm surprised they've remained open. This particular hotel was nothing like that - what a revelation! Arriving fairly early in the day, we were greeted warmly at reception before being directed to our room, check in being completed in just a few seconds. Given a top-floor room, the views weren't too bad, considering we were in the centre of Harrogate, next door to the conference centre. The room was reasonably spacious, pretty clean and adequately equipped although, like another guest reviewer states, the clock on the TV was wrong, causing me to be far too early for one appointment! Just a five minute stroll from the conference centre, and about 10 minutes from a vast array of restaurants (try the Cheaug Won Chinese on the right up the hill - not much to look at, but great food!), and with free parking for guests, the hotel could hardly have been better situated. Room 416 backs on to the lift but, much to my surprise, I didn't hear it once. Whether that was due to an efficient lift or me being completely knackered is anyone's guess. A firm but comfortable bed gave me a good nights sleep, although the room was quite hot. Waking in the morning, with a copy of The Times waiting for my outside the door, I spotted one of those small details that make all the difference - an A4 printed sheet with the days weather, traffic problems, local events, conferences and other information, signed by the staff. A very small thing to do, but unexpected and most welcome. We headed to the basement for breakfast although, despite being the basement, there's a small but pleasant outdoor area and at least some view of the sky. The range of food was pretty good, with some superb sausages and a selection of other standard cooked breakfast fare. Cereals, fruit, juices and toast was also all available, along with a fantastic selection of jam, honey, marmalade and so on. The bar area by reception was very pleasant, although I didn't spend much time there. There's apparently wireless internet in there, which I didn't use, while internet access in the rooms is catered for by The Cloud, which I did use. The hotel seemed short staffed, but don't think that's a complaint - perhaps we just kept seeing the same people over and over again. The staff that were there were very friendly, very efficient and very helpful. Definitely a case of quality over quantity. Check out was again efficient, and we were on our way again. Next time I'm traveling, I'm still likely to rebook through Hilton and stay at a predictable but 'safe' hotel. Unless I'm in Harrogate. Then I'll stay with Kimberley ;-)
lovely hotel
from jonshell
We stayed at the Kimberley for one night, and what a lovely hotel. The cleanliness was impecable and the room was more than adequate for what we needed. We were a little hesitant as we had dinner included in our price and looking at other peoples comments about the Hotel not having a dining room etc, we didn't really know what to expect. However the meal was fantastic and the quality and presentation were second to none. Wine was also included in the price which came as a nice suprise ( a whole bottle at that!!) My husband and I loved our stay there and wouldn't hesitate to go back. We would recommend this hotel to anyone stopping in Harrogate. Absolutely lovely
Nice hotel, but...

Stayed at the Kimberley for one night, on the way back from week-end in Whitby. First impressions, very nice. Everthing was fine until breakfast time. I asked for kippers for my wife and vegetarian sausages for me, this seemed to confuse the waitress. After a short while, she brought 2 servings of kippers and one serving of very under cooked, barely warm sausages. I asked her to return the sausages to the chef, for further cooking. I'm not sure she understood, within a few minutes the chef brought the sausages back. They looked no different ( almost white ) he told me he did not know how to brown them, everything is cooked under the grill. He took them away and I went without. Quorn sausages are best shallow fried in vegetable oil, this way they cook and brown very easily. All the catering staff here are of foreign nationality, they are very pleasant, but if you want something other than the buffet style breakfast, which looks very nice, they find it hard to understand and are easily confused.
Hot Stuff in Harrogate.

We had a lovely stay at the Kimberley and would echo the majority view that this is a pretty good hotel. We had two slight issues, the first being the digital clock on the TV was 18 minutes fast and there seemed to be no way to alter it. I asked at reception but it never got put right during our 3 day stay (I said it was a slight issue) The second was that the room (207) was very, very hot and it seemed impossible to get any air movement at all, again I asked at reception if a fan was available and the member of staff said she would sort something out but nothing arrived. I was slightly annoyed because I would have bought a fan if she had said that they didn't have any. Overall though we enjoyed our stay and will happily book again next time we are stopping in Harrogate.
Dreaded Room 216
from Linconshire couple
Feel a bit harsh in giving a rating of terrible. Room 216 is directly backing onto the bar, maybe fine if you have considerate guests but we weren't that fortunate. Noise & singing from the bar at 3am was more reminiscent of a Club 18-30 hotel, not for a room (upgraded to executive at that) in a otherwise very nice hotel.

Thank you for your review. Here at the Kimberley we greatly appreciate any comments whether positive or negative as these allow us to improve our services to you, the customer. On the night in question we had a 43rd army reunion in and our nightporter thought all the rooms by the Bar (especially the dreaded 216) were occupied by this party. We apologise for this error and will endeavour to make sure this never happens again.
British Bed & Breakfast hotel
from JulieQUk
While attending the Harrogate spring flower show my friend & I stayed at this hotel for 1 night. We picked this hotel after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. Hotel average, staff very friendly, nice breakfast but a bit limited on choice, good size clean bedroom and bathroom. Parking was good for being in the centre of town well lit round the back at night. There seemed to be some refurbishments going on in the room next to ours the workmen were still working upto 11pm. We had a standard room and my advise is upgrade to an executive room, our beds were very hard and the pillows had seen better days.
