Sheen Falls Lodge

My husband and I stayed at Sheen Falls Lodge for 3 nights in late October, 2005. The hotel staff is kind, courteous and helpful - no complaints there. The meals in the restaurant are of high quality and are well-prepared, albeit expensive (dinner for two without wine, 147 euros). The public areas of the lodge are pleasant and welcoming. If you ever plan on visiting the Ring of Kerry or staying in the Kenmare area of Ireland, I highly recommend the Sheen Falls Lodge. We and our two teenage sons stayed there June 9-12 and had a fantastic time. The rooms were spotless, large, comfortable; we overlooked the falls and slept to their sounds. The food and service was great, the facilities are top notch, pool, spa, excercise was ok. A wonderful walk into the town of Kenmare where every other store is a pub! We stayed at Sheen Falls Lodge for 2 nights in May. This was our second visit and we found the service, staff and accommodation excellent. The views from the lounge and terrace are outstanding. We ate in Oscars one night and the food was very good. We also had a junior suite and the amount of space was wonderful. The bathroom was gorgeous with lots of Molton Brown toiletries. Can't wait to return again. It is a very expensive hotel but ideal for a treat.

I brought my husband to Sheen Falls for 2 nights as a birthday treat at the end of May. We were allocated a room which was very unsatisfactory. I had booked a deluxe Falls room as shown on their website, we were given a much smaller room with a restricted view, there was no heat in the room though there was heat in the bathroom. From all we'd heard and read, we expected to be blown away, but perhaps no place could have lived up to our expectations or been worth the very high price. Our rooms were perfectly pleasant, but a bit bland (tho filled with wonderful reading material which we were just too busy or too sleepy to get to!). Sheen Falls Lodge is probably the best hotel we have stayed at. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The service is first class. I believe the food is fantastic, only had the breakfast there myself which was delicious. This would definitely be somewhere to consider spending a romantic weekend or honeymoon, or even just to pamper yourself. The gardens are magnificent, and the local scenery is lovey. Many rooms have great views of the waterfall, which is lit up at night. Make sure you visit the local village Kenmare, which... more
