I am writing about the camping facilities at Rudding Park, the facilities themselves were very good but the real reason I am writing a review is because that I have just come back from a three night stay on the campsite and have had to cut it short. It began with a crowd... more

Welcome Back...
from SubaruDriver
Have stayed here before, and was welcomed back. Even the "do you want the usual wake up call time and Financial Times" was delivered with quality, rather than reading from obviously a very good computer database. Food once again was great, rooms excellent. Two negatives though - mobile phone reception is terrible. The hotel is in the back of beyond, plus with it being an old house with very thick walls, conversations are a little difficult. Second, there is no gym, but I was assured that planning permission was granted and a new spa was in the offing. I still haven't managed to play golf there yet, but it looks nice!!! Staff are terribly polite and courteous and make you feel special. Would happily go back again and again....
5* hotel
from thecatBaldock
Excellent hotel, stayed for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon. The service was fantastic and the facilities second to none. The deal we had included bed breakfast dinner and as much golf as you liked. £150 per night or £75 each. We were recomended the hotel by friend and we will be returning in the near future
Fantastic!
from Dorset_Adam
I stayed at Rudding Park for two nights on business. I arrived in the evening, tired and irritable after a long journey. My spirits were immediately lifted by the large crackling fire in reception. Things got even better when I was greeted by name (how did they do that!?), my bags whisked away to my room, and a straightforward check-in. Room was great - large LCD TV with internet and WI-FI access, 4000 song jukebox, etc. The bed was extremely comfy, the bath large enough to sink right in (unlike the current trend for narrow 3/4 baths - eugh!). Food was exceptional. I ordered a Clocktower burger on room service -a little pricey at £20, but a taste beyond expectation. I've stayed in more hotels than I care to remember, and Rudding Park is right at the top - everything was so right.
Fantastic! Great staff, wonderful food, beautiful hotel
from weekendtripper
Absolutely loved this place. I can't really think of anything bad at all. From the minute we arrived, we were made to feel like VIPs. The staff were very attentive without being overbearing and made us feel very welcome. The food in the restaurant was excellent. We had a deal through expedia for £166 for dinner, bed and breakfast (one night) and thought it was good value overall when the travelodge was £70 with no food. We had the Clocktower burger also which was divine although sadly I couldnt fit a pudding in. The drinks did seem a little dear - £14 for a glass of water and two glasses of wine but I suppose thats what you get in a hotel such as this. The breakfast also was a great selection of cereals and juices with a cooked breakfast aswell. The cooked breakfast was perfectly cooked and not at all greasy. It seems hard to get one cooked properly these days and they should look to RP to see how its done. The decor in the hotel is lovely and the rooms are sumptuous. I would definately stay here again and I'm fussy!
At last a decent hotel in Harrogate!
from LyndaMacdonald
Hurrah - there is a decent hotel in Harrogate. I feel like writing the Rough Guide to Harrogate as I've had to stay there so many times on business that I feel I could review most hotels. I'll save you reading about of all the horror stories (and there is a lot of them in this coach-tour-tastic/carpet exhibition town) and tell you there are only 2 hotels in or around Harrogate I would consider and they are Rudding Park and The Boar's Head in Ripley (5 mins outside). It's unfair to compare the two venues and so I love both equally. Yet another night when I'm forced to stay in Harrogate when not expected, or wanted to, and the usual farce of phoning around asking over-priced fawlty tours replicas if they would like to fleece me silly amounts to stay in a room that smells of urine, with scabby threadbare sheets and a bathroom I wouldn't use as a poodle parlour, and don't forget the obligatory pre-packed cheap biscuits. Thankfully fate intervened and they all said there was no room at inn. The Boar's Head recommended Rudding Park, so that was good enough for me and they had space. It was an unexpected joy to find a clean room, no ominous smells, immaculate bathroom with decent products that won't strip your skin off, and, a little surprise at my door waiting for me. I won't spoil it for you. Food was excellent - I had the burger AND they don't deliver your pudding at the same time as your main with room service - a personal bug-bear of mine. Bed was comfortable, TV good size and a DVD player too. Free use of either gym in Harrogate (Academy slightly nicer but Cannons nearer) so that always makes me happy and leaves me feeling a bit more virtous when ordering room service burgers. Best bit of all was the breakfast. Usually when I ask for porridge I get a strange vacant look from the waiting staff (most times because they don't speak English and I only speak Scottish), but this time I was asked how I would like it made and it came out perfect. The fruit was great too - not a tinned grapefruit in sight. Was gutted at having to go to work next day and would have happily lounged in Rudding Park before the long drive home. Forget all the others - Rudding Park is fantastic.
Pefect wedding night
from Tomandannie
We stayed here for the night after our wedding. We had booked a superior double and upon arrival (at 2.30am) we were upgraded to a suite with champagne laid out for us. The room was perfect, the bed incredibly comfortable and the staff fantastic - courteous, welcoming and helpful. My best man had arranged a late checkout for us. We forgot to order breakfast in our room the night before, but one call to reception and we had whatever we wanted delivered to our door promptly and still nice and hot. All in all, perfect and well worth the money.
WOW - What a way to spend an evening
from NorthernBlond
My husband and I wanted an evening away for a treat and we couldn't have picked a better place. As soon as we arrived the porter was on hand to take our luggage to the room, the staff were fantastic, really friendly and courteous without being intrusive. We had a superior room which was beautiful - high standard of decoration throughout the hotel - some parts looked like a page out of conde nast magazine! Everywhere was spotlessly clean, nothing tired and worn. The food in the restaurant was excellent - highly recommend the Clocktower Burger, they do a mean Pimms as well. Full English Breakfast was perfect. All in all a wonderful evening. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

My fiancé took me to this hotel for my birthday. We only stayed for one night but it felt longer and we enjoyed every minute. We were met as we approached the hotel entrance by a very polite and friendly concierge who came to us and took our bags to our room. The room was... more
