We have just returned from this great hotel. We had 2 nights there and you could not ask for more. We took our granddaughter with us and booked a triple room that was very spacious. It had a little balcony with French doors opening onto it. The staff where very friendly... more

Vendome a very worthwhile choice
My husband and I spent one night here and thorougly enjoyed our stay. The hotel has a charmng ambience, very friendly staff and all the basic amenities one needs. It is centrally located, even with walking distance of the bus station. Cynthia Eloff, Cape Town, South Africa
Great Value
Stayed here during a trip to Monaco for the Grand Prix this year - so much better value than Monaco itself (and the overpriced package deals!). The hotel is reasonably central, 20 mins from the train station and about 10 mins walk from the main bus station where the Airport special #98 drops you off (dont even think about a taxi unless you've got loads of luggage - €4 for the bus payable to the driver or €25-30 for a taxi). The main pedestrian area is only 10 mins away and the lovely old town is about a 5 min stroll beyond the bus station. What you lack in being on the doorstep to these places you gain in having a nice quiet night (double glazing is great) away from the noise along the sea front with all its bars and heavy traffic. The hotel looks like a converted 4/5 storey villa and is very clean and comfortable. Rooms are quite small but relatively modern with mini-bar and really good shower. Ask for one with a balcony - many of the rooms have them. One downside - there is no room service over the weekend (the hotel gets meals in from the restaurant over the road which is closed Fri-Sun) and breakfast is a rip off at €10 per head. Far better to sample the wonderful restaurants in the evening and for breakfast head for coffee in one of the many squares to people watch in the sunshine, grabbing a croissant from a bakers on the way. Would definately return.
A rare find and excellent value
This is a great little hotel. We stayed there for three nights and found it excellent value. The location is quiet as the hotel is set back from the street. It is not far to walk to the centre and restaurants. The continental breakfast was very good with a good selection and everything was fresh. The room was moderately sized, clean and had a balcony. We did find it quite warm but just opened the balcony door and it soon cooled down – didn’t feel we needed use the air conditioning in March! There is a good restaurant diagonally across the street from the hotel. It was the busiest place in the nearby area and all the locals were in there. It is certainly worth a try rather than going to the ‘tourist’ restaurants behind the promenade. I highly recommend this hotel.
lovely hotel
we have just come back from 2 nights in this great hotel we took our grandaughter and had a triple room. There was plenty of room around the beds. There was a lovely balcony which had nice french windows. The bathroom had twin washbasins and shower and bath. I would recomend this hotel and if we go back to nice we will be stopping at this hotel
a weekend stay in february 2005
As a single person I thought the Hotel Vendome was a great place to stay. It was pretty central and easily accessible to the bus station and the main shopping street, Avenue Jean Medecin and the Cours Saleya markets and the sea front. The staff were very freindly and the room comfortable and amazingly quiet. If you are coming from the airport get the 98 bus from there and it will take you to the stops near the bus station. A few minutes walk up the Rue Albert 1 will take you directly to the Hotel Vendome on Rue Pastorelli. I went during the busy winter period for the last weekend of the Carnival. If you are happy to travel at this time you will be in for a treat. The Carnival was fantastic.
Amazing value for money, great location
We stayed in the Vendome for 5 nights during September 2004, and thought it was a very pretty hotel. Our room was clean and nicely decorated and had an upstairs and two bathrooms, even though it wasn't the most expensive type! Everything worked well, including the minibar, TV, hairdryer and air conditioning. Breakfasts had a good choice and were tasty, and the staff friendly, helpful and spoke good English. Check out the information leaflets in reception, because we got several discount vouchers, including a great one for most attractions in nearby Monaco. The Vendome's location was quiet, and although not exactly central, only about 5 minutes walk from the Place Massena shopping area and restaurants, and 10 minutes from the beach. A nice little local restaurant is over the road- selling delicious food and cheap wine- much cheaper than in the main tourist area! Thoroughly recommended- not flashy or extravagant, but a charming old building tastefully redecorated and clean.
Nice clean, quiet hotel
We stayed at the Vendome last week for five nights. The staff were very pleasant and spoke good English. The hotel is in its own small grounds and it was like returning to our own home each evening. The room was very clean and had a nice new bathroom, with bath and shower. The beds were comfortable and well made for us each day. The room was very quiet at night and the airconditioning worked well. The breakfast was continental and was as would be expected. Pastries, nice bread, cheese, ham, fresh fruit salad and a good selection of jams and cereals. It is served in a bright, pleasant breakfast room. The decor of the hotel is in pinks and blues and the lounge has been decorated as it must have been when the house was a private residence. It leads on to a balcony with a large round table. There is a tiny residents' bar. All in all, excellent value for £385 for five nights comfort.
Not a 3 star
We booked a family suite for myself, husband and 2 sons. The room was a 2 story with very narrow stairs that we could hardly walk up let alone with luggage. The room and bathroom needed to be remodeled. This was not a 3 star hotel. The location was also not convienent as we thought it would be. I would not recommend this hotel. We were very disappointed.
Fabulous Location, Fabulous Price
Hotel Vendome is a very nice, well-maintained hotel with fantastic rates, even during the peak tourist season! The hotel is located in a safe neighborhood on nice, quiet streets. In less than a 10-minute walk, one arrives at the Flower Market or the coast. The "zone de pietonne," a popular outdoor pedestrian zone, is only a 5-minute walk. Rooms are accomodating and clean, the beds were comfortble, and staff was very friendly. My husband and I were traveling with 4 others and they were very pleased with the hotel we chose. I would recommend Hotel Vendome to anyone staying in Nice!
A great stay for the price
My husband and I stayed at the hotel Vendome in Nice, France this last May 2003 for the Monaco Grand Prix. While we were searching for hotels by telephone, we were told (sometimes rudely) that it would be impossible to find a hotel during the Monaco Grand Prix. When we called the Hotel Vendome, the staff was friendly and emailed us our reservation right away. The staff apologetically added on an extra fee for this time period but the service was outstanding. The Vendome is located in an old restored mansion with parking space for guests. The staff greeted us when we entered, helped with our bags and were helpful with regard to activities. The rooms were small but had nice bathrooms. Since Nice is a noisy large city, we were pleased by how quiet our room was and how we could not hear other travelers in neighboring rooms. The beds were comfortable too. The hotel is about 4 blocks from the beach and is affiliated with one of the resorts on the beach. Read the material in the hotel before going out to the beach because the hotel offers discounts. This can save you a lot of money. Overall, we would stay there again. It was a great deal for the South of France.
