travelled with 2 children had great penthouse suite with huge terrace and sun loungers beautiful garden tennis courts fab weather nothing too much for staff absolutely wonderful

We visited the husa imperial Tarragona in April 2006. After a two hour drive from Girona airport we arrived at the hotels car park. It was full. The hotel staff were extremely helpful in sending someone out to assist with the parking in their car park. As I was given the room keys I requested a room with a sea view. Some debate amongst the staff, a change of keys and five floors in the lift later and I was looking a room with two single beds. This is a nice hotel with a fabulous location. If it was $120 per night I would be very happy with it. At $175 a nigt they are missing a lot. This is just a supremely ugly hotel. The internal and external décor all looks like bad U.S. 1970’s style. It needs a serious upgrade. There is no business center. There is no real entrance to the hotel. Hotel had a great location right next to the old town and only a three minute walk from the main street La Rambla with some excellent restaurants at the top end. The rooms were OK, despite requesting a double room ended up with a twin and after asking the reception staff if we could change were told hotel was full and they could do nothing. My fiance and I recently stayed at Husa Imperial Tarraco and it was absolutely great. I booked it online not knowing much about the hotel or the area and was expecting the Spanish equivalent of a Motel 6, nothing too fancy. We were extremely surprised when we arrived there and saw how clean the room was. We were even more surpised when we saw our outstanding view of the Roman Amphitheatre and Circus, not to mention the gorgeous Mediterranean in the background. I should have written earlier. Stayed at this hotel with my boyfriend, we requested aroom with a view of the ocean and were given one that looks diagonally out. Had our ow balcony, we pretty much lived outside at night bought bottles of vino from the hotel and from the delicatessen adn patisserie nearby on the main strip and then across the square/promenade. The hotel itself is great for a short stay. staff very efficient. the rooms are spacious and comfortable but the bathrooms,although very clean and large, are a wee bit on the tired side. Its but a very short stroll from the Husa to the old town. Here you will find some very good bars for tapas, There is a small plaza nearby in the old town which also has bars and restaurants esp.the Restaurant Forum(highly recommended) has a great menu de dia for about 13 euros-the hake fisherman style is tremendous. My wife and I stayed here for one week, Nov 6th we nearly did not book this hotel after reading the reports about the reception etc. We got in early 10-30 a.m, we where allocated a room imead. the reception staff where v.g. we asked for extra pillows delivered right away. the room was good size as was the bathroom, very clean but looks a touch tired. We stayed at this hotel in August this year for just one night. On arriving to our room we were amazed by the size and comfort of it , we were travelling with our to young children and we usually find that we are crammed into one small room but we had 2 rooms, a beautiful bathroom plus 2 balconies!. The view from the balcony over looking the roman ampitheatre ant the med was absolutely breathtaking. Tarragona itself is a wonderful lively city and we enjoyed it so much we are planning to return and spend longer there. Thouroghly recommended.
