Submitted By: TraceyBThe only downside was that the pool was very cold but is was nice and refreshing on the really hot days and it didn't seem to bother our 1yr old. Also it is quite expensive 5.50 euro for a bacardi and coke and the supermarket's were very expensive too so take lots of spends!
Good for: Beach

Submitted By: Mr E HutchinsonApartments were basic but very adequate - we had ants but you are in a mediterranean climate and so are part of the territory - just remember to keep your floors clean. Only thing we could have done with was a more regular change of the bed linen - it was done once in the two weeks. The area is nice and flat which we had hoped for given one of our little boys is disabled and is in a walker - apart from the steps at the pool lots of ramps in place which made access for him really easy. However I would not have liked to have stayed at some of the apartments up on the hillside so we chose well and review sites like this really helped our choice.
We spent our time at the San Jaime complex which was relatively quiet (I suspect as the English school holidays kick in it will get much busier)- which we only found at the end of the holiday is supposedly private - you have to pay 5 Euros for a lounger each day so like many people we just bought lilos (which they say are not allowed but are) and an umbrella at the little shop. We did venture to the beach one day which is spectacular - go down at sunset as well - but preferred the pool area. Our kids loved the slides which we did each afternoon and the girls who ran it were really great with them.
Eating out was very adequate - most nights we walked along to the little commercial centre (5-10mins) where there is plenty choice - nothing gourmet - but perfectly adequate (although I'd recommend avoiding the Chinese restaurant which does the buffet - not great). After dinner each night we went to the little Italian ice cream shop round the corner from the main reception in the commercial centre - you have to try it. There is also a little playpark/funfair at the commercial centre which we went to a few nights. There is also a great little patisserie just round the corner from the laundry in the Son Bou Gardens complex - the donuts and pastries are to die for. We did self catering lunch and breakfasts - basics are expensive at the little supermarket but c'est la vie. You can also get carry out pizzas and stuff at a number of places which we did a few times.
Plenty to do here during the day (little play park, great pool, slides, maze, etc) although we did not do the nightly tribute/circus act thing. We did not do any organised trips but did take the bus on two days to Mahon for the market ourselves (which is too far away from the port to walk to) and also went to Cuitadella on the west of the island (only about 45 mins on two buses) which is really lovely and worth a visit. The main reception staff were really helpful and we did not need the help of the rep during our stay. As an example we reported our toaster broken and our need for a few more towels one evening at the main reception and they got delivered two hours later at 11pm (great service).
Would definitely go again

Submitted By: Mr G HouseThe beach is great although do be careful not to wander too far down as you soon hit the nudist area although it didn't seem to be an issue.
We hired a car for the 2 weeks and spent plenty of time exploring and visiting other resorts. We also hit upon a great find at the Lladro centre on the main road just outside of Citadella, which offers a great kids play area and pool and, believe it or not, all for free - well worth a visit.
I'd certainly recommend Son Bou and we look forward to going back in the near future.

WEATHER: Well we went in Oct so it wasn't to hot just right no rain.
APARTMENTS: Were very clean comfortable and big. 4 cooking rings. The grass was cut.
FOOD & DRINK: A lot of bars and restaurants, we went to Club San Jamie every night for entertainment very good and in Club San Jamie there was a room with P.C and internet, you had to pay though.
I would recommend to anyone.

Submitted By: Mrs Je ColcloughThe pool was excellent and plenty of space around it even in August. The beach also excellent and the sea very warm, clean, and safe. Our main problem was the food. Not many restaurants and not a good choice, everything was with chips! The menu seemed to be the same whichever place you chose. The entertainment at Club San Jaime very good, even if it was a bit cheesy!
The gardens and surroundings of the complex are very well kept and everywhere very clean and tidy. A good place for a family holiday.

Submitted By: Mrs S A ScaifeThe restaurant was more expensive at the club and we found many places do the same food for half the price. The beach was a bit of a walk away but even that was clean. To be honest the whole town was very clean and the gardens surrounding the apartments were kept very well. Everyone we spoke to had been there several times before which means that it must be good... We are hoping to go back again next year...

Submitted By: Mr G BurtMy 1 & 4 year old daughters loved every minute. The evening entertainment "mini disco" was great for the children and some of the shows were surprisingly good to watch.
The apartment was fairly basic, but nothing wrong with it in any way. I did see ants outside on our balcony but not in the actual rooms. Considering the amount of time spent in there it made no difference as they were clean and quiet.
Weather was great and the resort had a real calm, laid back feel. A very enjoyable week away and I will definitely go back to Son Bou Gardens. A great place for young families to enjoy.
Ps: the train ride around the resort at 6Euro per person (including babies and children’s) is not worth the money and beware of the prices charged for the sunbeds on the beach.

Submitted By: Mrs G LeeExcellent accommodation - renovated over the winter - spotless. Set in pretty well maintained gardens. Would comment however that second bedroom is really only suitable for children.
Swimming pools, surrounding areas, and bars clean and well run. Friendly staff.
Good entertainment for children if wanted. We, however, spent all our days on the beach which is fabulous (10 minutes stroll). Beach bars serving basic good food, great sangria, and again very friendly staff.
Food in resort a bit limited and with a very "British" feel but good tapas can be found.
First Choice reps were excellent.
We will DEFINITELY take the children back for half term next year.

The staff at the San Jaime complex were brilliant and all made us feel welcome the different tribute acts that were on were great especially Freddie Mercury. The best restaurant are either Andre's or Arthurs but the others were just as good. My 2 year old son loved travelling on the minature train(cost 2 euros one way)which takes you around the resort. The night is ok for the children as their is a bowling alley plus things happening at cocabana's. The complex was clean and the staff at the reception plus bar were great. We had 2 lifeguards on duty at the pool and the lady one was most helpful especially when my daughter cut her foot. Overall i would recommend this complex to anyone who has a young family.
