" I went with my mother and my 2... "

I went with my mother and my 2 children (5 & 3). We had a fabulous time. The apartment was spotless and its location was excellent.
We all loved the beach and spent most of our time there or in the beach bar! The pools and surrounding areas were very clean and there was nightly entertainment for the kids in the form of a disco.

I would recommend anyone who has children to go to Son Bou Garden Apartments. We might even go again next year!

" We stayed at Son Bou Garden... "

We stayed at Son Bou Garden apartments. Zone 4. This was an ideal location for all of the complex.

The apartments were very clean and tidy. The kitchen had everything we need apart from a kettle; we had a metal teapot thing on the gas stove! The kettle didn’t turn up until day 3 once our neighbours complained they didn’t have one, and then the whole row got one!

We did have a problem with ants in the living area and the bathroom, as did our neighbours; I had read reviews of people saying ants were a problem. I would suggest that you buy ant spray on your arrival. The seating in the living room was not that comfortable but if you only sleep at the apartment as we did it will not be too much of a problem.

For the money I guess it was ok, clean and tidy is the main thing.

Son Bou is a great area, the beach is excellent, we had a couple of great days on it, long beach and white sand, blue skies and warmish sea that you can walk out for miles it seems.

Loads of great bars and places to eat, lots of small gift shops to look around, my son was impressed with a shop that sold quick silver things!

Sant Jamie complex was great, nice pool although a bit cold in may!

Great evening entertainment, good food, and very friendly staff.

Great bakers next to the medical centre, would suggest a visit, doughnuts are out of this world!

A great place to go only down side be prepared for the wind, it’s quite strong at times.

" Overall we had a nice holiday and I... "

Overall we had a nice holiday and I would recommend to families. The grounds were very well kept and clean. The apartments were clean but they urgently need updates, the kitchen was really tatty and old. Also the bathroom are very dark and depressing, a white suite and tiles would not go a miss!

The beach at Son Bou was great but buy your own parasol before you come over, it was very expensive to hire.

Entertainment was good although a little cheesy but the acts gave it their all.

Best Restaurants;
Boni's - always friendly and accommodating and the food was way better than the others, highly recommended. We heard that San Andres was nice but we did not get the chance to go there.

If you want top quality food which was more expensive than the usual resturants then go to The Cobblers in Alaior, the food was great in a lovley setting. Also San Jose just outside Mahon on the Mahon-Fornells road; real vegatables cooked just right!

Worst Restaurants;
Do not go to Las Dunas, when we visited, all our food was overcooked but cold! It was inedible. When we complained they were so rude and arrogant, we said that we would not pay for the meal but we would pay for the drinks, they threatened to call the police! We did not pay.

" We went to Son Bou Gardens with our 2... "

We went to Son Bou Gardens with our 2 children aged 6 and 3. Stayed in zone 5 which was a bit of walk from the centre for the children but fine for the adults. The apartments were fine, basic but clean. They were set in beautiful gardens and was peaceful when we went in early July, even though we were very close to the pool. Have to pay for sun beds in the main pool but they are free in the smaller pool, although people seem to start queuing for them very early, and they are gone in seconds.

Son Bou itself is a quiet resort, which is what we wanted with 2 young children, the beach is beautiful and if you buy yourself an umbrella and beach mats at the beginning of the holiday you save yourself a fortune! There were a few good restaurants but they all served similar food. Boni grill was our favourite, the staff were very friendly and the food was very good.
I would recommend hiring a car from the airport as Menorca is a beautiful island and there is so much to see a cab to the resort from the airport cost about 25 euros.

I would definitely go back there again, my children loved it and if you are looking for a peaceful base to explore the island from, I would recommend Son Bou gardens. I cant comment on the entertainment as its not our sort of thing, we prefer to go for a nice meal and then a few drinks back at the apartment.

All in all Son Bou gardens is excellent value for money we paid £165 for a 2 bedroom apartment in early July, although this was last minute. I would recommend it to anyone with a young family.

" What can I say about Son Bou? It is... "

What can I say about Son Bou? It is perfect!

We have now being going to Son Bou for 6 years and this year was our 12 visit. What more can I say.

Son Bou Garden apartments are very basic, but that's all you need on a self catering holiday, as long as they are clean, that’s all that matters.

The resort its self is perfect for a family holiday. There are no "Loud and Lively Disco's" just really friendly restaurants and bars.

Andres is the best restaurant in the resort, but is it advisable to book a few days in advance. Joseph's is an English bar which sells a lot of English draught beer (i.e. Strongbow, John Smiths). The Kit Kat bar is also another very good English bar, but both bars (as well as all the others in the resort) can be a bit pricey, but so it every bar you go into nowadays.

The beach is out of this world, lovely white sand and crystal clear water.

If you are thinking of a holiday in Son Bou, I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

" We stayed in the hotel Son Bou... "

We stayed in the hotel Son Bou Gardens it was a late booking as our original holiday was changed at the last minute.

The apartments [zone 4] are two up and we were on the top, set in nice gardens. We had a sea view although most of the view was of other apartments. The apartment was clean but the kitchen area is in need of updating, although every thing you need is there including a steam iron and an ironing board. The bed linen was changed one a week and towels twice a week [not enough for the bed lined]. We never eat at the pool side as we found the prices to expensive and preferred to eat in our room for b/fast and lunch. Evening meals varied from the usual chips/ burgers/ chicken to local fish dishes. As every where you get what you pay for.

There are three pools 2 smaller ones where the loungers were free if you could find one.

The main pool is lovely but they will charge you 4.5 euros per person per day for a lounger and no umbrellas were available don't know why. Next to the main pool is a large water slide which charges 2 euros for 2 slides or 6 euros for 10 slides, if you have a few kids with you it can work out very expensive. We took our own umbrella and cushions to lie on and saved a fortune.

The local Spanish school children use the slides and pools on week days [not all week] so it can get very noisy and busy.

The beach is 10 minute walk from our apartment and was lovely warm water which is waist deep for a good 300 meter approx with a great breeze. The down side being the cost of two loungers and an umbrellas being 17 euros per day so be warned. With the cost of the beach and pool loungers the cost could go up £150 and more.

It may sound like I am going on about money all the time but when you go self catering most of the budget should be food and entertainment not loungers.

The entertainment was mostly tribute bands and most of them were really good and the younger kids enjoyed the magic show. Older children were not so impressed mine was 12 and did not enjoy the shows that much.

The staff were friendly and worked hard all day, one draw back was my husband was at the bar having a beer and was given half a bowl of nuts then asked to pay 1.5 euros when he pointed out to the waiter that a Spanish chap had been given 2-3 bowls of nuts at no charge he was told that he was to busy to charge the Spanish chap!!!!!!. It seems routine practice to charge the British for some thing which is complementary to the locals.

The reception was helpful, I found it a little unnerving as the place is so big and the apartments have no phones in them if you have very old or young with you and they become ill during the night then it’s a long trek to get help.

Son Bou is my home from home. Each year there is something different to do or see, you never get bored. The apartments at Son Bou Gardens are always clean and well equipped. The bars and restaurants have something for everyone, even the young teenagers made to go on family holidays.

Joseph's Place is excellent for football and English beer, with a very friendly atmosphere. Bonni's serves excellent food for everyone from the young children choice of Chicken Nuggets to real Spanish dishes. I can’t wait to return this year, 2006.

This is a fantastic resort. The apartments are lovely and clean be careful with food though in apartment ants they come from nowhere and their hard to get rid off but if you keep food away they will stay away.

There is a waterslide next to the apartments which is good for the kids. The pools are brilliant there is 3 the food is good in the resort too. If you get the chance visit Bonny's brilliant food.

I have been 8 times to Menorca can't fault a thing this year June 06 we are staying at hotel Sol Milanos. Good reviews.
