Travelers Mother and Daughter, 68 and 42. Just had a wonderful week at the Hotel Eden in a Superior sea facing room which was like a mini suite with balcony. View over the bay was superb. Hotel has recently been refurbished and was cleaned thoroughly daily, as was the pool... more

Very nice location
We booked the Hotel Eden about a week before we flew to Mallorca. The hotel was very nice, although the room was very small. The balcony was nice and overlooked the pool and out to the bay. We did not use the pool as I don't think it was heated, but some brave people did - although they were out again very quickly! There is a pool table in the bar, and also a seperate non-smoking section which was nice. The food in the hotel was very good - we stayed half board. Breakfast choices were always excellent and food was restocked. Dinner choices were good, although on a couple of nights (we stayed for 6) the vegetarian choice was not great. I always managed to find something though, even if it meant having large portions of the same thing. The desert choice was extensive and very good! The staff were very friendly. Dinner was served til 9pm and one night we were late back to the hotel but even at 8.50pm they still made sure we had enough to eat and didn't rush us. Reception staff were also helpful and friendly. We hired a car for the week and the hotel doesn't have a car park yet (one is apparently being built). Parking in the street was fine but sometimes we were quite a way from the hotel. I imagine in the Summer months this could be a problem (plus, I think street parking is not allowed then?). The area of Port de Soller is vey pretty. Be sure to walk through the old top, up the steep streets to the cliff top (to the right of the bay if you face the beach andhave your back to the hotel). The island and Port de Soller were very quiet in March (except for the cyclists!!) and this was lovely. The harbour has obviously had a lot of money spent on the front and it was really nice to walk round. Would recommend this hotel!
Great Value for money
Despite what one reviewer thought, this hotel is excellent value for money, and lets be honest - you do get what you pay for. The rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable and the food is as expected - plentiful but simple; again what do you expect for the price? If you do want pure luxury, plump for the Esplendido or the Hotel Soller in Soller town, but for the average family the Eden was good. I would however add a note of caution to families with younger children. The hotel seems to attract tourists of a certain age who are often childless and who are not overly impressed when toddlers have tantrums and throw their dinner on the floor. The staff were great with our daughter, but the majority of guests were obviously not happy sharing the dining room with a toddler.
Great Value, Great Location
This hotel is a very solid three star property. It is an incredible value for the money. The location is perfect; centered on the cove in Port de Soller, equal distance from the two ends. Free parking is a half block away and very easy to find. There is a breakfast buffet served until 10am that has everything you need. Nothing fancy, but some cold and hot options. The clientele were an older crowd; generally 55+. We're a young couple, but didn't mind as the location and price were right. Honestly, we couldn't imagine finding a place with a better price. The rooms were very basic, but make sure you get one with a balcony facing the port and you will forget about the standard rooms as the view is incredible. We would definitely stay here again. Also, the pool area had a few kids around, and I would recommend this hotel for families due to the reasons already mentioned. You absolutely have to try Es Faro Restaurant. It's likely the most expensive in the Port, but well worth it. We ate there twice in three nights! For two people, with starters, entree, dessert, drinks, and a bottle of wine, our bill was 120 euros each night. The view is breathtaking, as the hotel is located at the top of the road to the lighthouse, overlooking the entire cove. Don't miss it! They get very busy during tourist season, so book reservations.
Perfect location
We booked into the Hotel Eden on 22nd Feb for a 5 night break. Thoroughly enjoyed the scenic journey from Palma to Soller on the Train (Not to be missed) and then got a taxi (6euros) into the Port. The Hotel was perfectly located, the superior room with seaview was clean and adequate and the staff were helpful and friendly. The Port has a great selection of bars and restaurants which is great because the food in the hotel was awful. Breakfast was ok but the evening meal was dreadful. We ate in there on the first evening and just didn't bother again. The Port is the perfect location for visiting Soller, Deia and Valdermossa. The tram is quaint and novel and for the 'not feint hearted' the mountain bus ride to Palma is a must. I would definitely recommend the Hotel Eden but on a B&B basis only.
Pure peace
Just got back from a 4 night short break at the Eden in Puerto Soller. Only a 40 minute taxi from the airport. Used Shuttle Direct, booked in UK, have used them before & would recommend them for a hassle free transfer. A lovely hotel. Ask for a superior room sea view on a upper floor, all you can hear is the waves breaking. We had a superb view and there was always something interesting to watch in the harbour. The hotel is very clean and staff very pleasant. The food was adequate and the price we paid was so good I was surprised It covered half board. Some lovely walks to be had and for February I found enough restaurants and shops. A nice little supermarket right under the hotel, they sold nice filled rolls made up to order, ideal for lunch. The hotel is in the best location in the resort and the little tram stops right outside. I would recommend a trip on it into the lovely town of Soller, plenty of shops and bars there, also a market Saturday morning. The weather was nice 3 out of 4 days and the resort is lovely.
What you pay, is what you get
We arrived at the hotel after a short drive from the airport and checked in to our "superior room" with neutral expectations. The room looked like it had not been refurbished since the 70's and we became painfully aware of the extremely thin walls when the evening entertainment started. Although the hotel is beautifully located 20 metres from the beach and the staff was polite and helpful, it still could not free us from the impression of a budget hotel that lost its rising star back when we were still kids. This trip was our first visit to the island and we found Mallorca great but the next time we will make sure to book a hotel that serves more than boiled (!) bacon and green eggs for breakfast.
A wonderful hotel!
We have just returned from a weeks stay at this lovely hotel. We found it to be exceptional value for money with spacious, spotless rooms (opt for the superior ones), a central position overlooking the harbour, a good breakfast buffet and very friendly staff. We willcertainly be going back!
Loved the view from hotel balcony
My husband and I stayed at the Eden Hotel in Soller in March 2006 and it was so relaxing. We had a beautiful view over the harbour and when the sun set at night it was really lovely. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. There was plenty of variety of food especially breakfast time. Not so keen on the powdered fruit juice though. The beds and towels were changed everyday by a team of extremely friendly staff. A couple of times the lift break down but it was soon repaired. I don't think I would go back to Majorca in March again as the whole island was full of cyclists. They seemed to be in groups of about 15 at a time and there were hundreds of groups. When you turned a corner you came up behind them and trying to overtake was a nightmare as groups were coming towards you.
good location
My partner, son and I had a lovely stay at the Hotel, 4 nights in February. The location was great for getting out and about. The town is well served with trams and buses and there is a train that runs to Palma from the near by town of Soller. The countyside and mountains are beautiful, the orange trees were in full blossom as were the mimossa trees and many other plants. The staff at the Hotel were very friendly, the beds comfortable and the rooms kept clean and warm. The guests were mostly German on walking holidays and there were facilities to clean boots and fix bikes for those cycling. We chose the half board, the breakfast was fine but it was a shame that in a island full of orange trees the hotel served up what tasted like powdered orange juice! The eveninig meal was ok but the timing of the dishes could have been better, sometimes we got the meat without any veg or veg and no meat, so we had to keep going up to get more food as it was bought out. There was a fish dish every day but little food available for veggies unless you like endless amounts of salad and pickles. We really did enjoy our stay. Although only there for four nights we packed in loads. It was a fantastic time of year to visit and we were encredibily lucky with the weather. Most places were open and it was great to go out and about and not be surrounded by millions of tourists.
Good 3* value hotel
Two of us stayed at The Eden first week of October. Early check-in no problem, reception staff friendly and, as it should be, really appreciate it if you remember your 'por favors' and 'gracias'. If you want a view try and avoid rooms 101-107, but the rooms are clean and tidy, maid service efficient. The hotel has no parking, but there is a (free) municipal car park 2 minutes walk away, otherwise street parking will cost from 60 cents to 3euros (all day). Buffet breakfast is fine, but you may have to wait a couple of minutes for fried eggs at busy times, otherwise decent choice with no signs of shortages. At this time of year it had a quiet, mainly middle-aged clientele, probably the same most of the year. There is fun to be had with the background music in the public areas, it's the cheesiest M.O.R versions of contemporary classics I have ever heard, it can take a while to decipher what the songs are, but it's not offensive. My only gripe is that the WiFi access did not deliver, at least in our room, but as I use a mac, and they're not renowned for the best reception, it may not be THAT bad. Be aware that there is no Ethernet access either, just a public terminal in the bar area (2 euros for 1hr). In fact if you're desperate for internet access this probably isn't the area for you. There's one internet cafe up the road in Soller. All in all though, a good value stay. We paid about £30 pn for room and breakfast, ie £15 each. I don't think that can be beat. Nice hotel in a nice town, just don't expect excitement, but if that's what you're after I doubt if you'd even look here.
