Just back from four nights at the hotel, last having stayed back in 2001. All I can say is very disappointing overall.
The hotel itself is fabulous in terms of layout, decor and the grounds. The rooms are fabulous too- huge with spectacular balconies and those Heavenly beds really live up to their name.
However, on the downside the fans were "temporarily" out of action. Take your own kettle as we with difficulty managed to get the hotel's one and only kettle (and they asked for it back after two days!), and take an iron too - we never managed to get an iron out of them at all!
The food is atrocious and I recommend anyone staying here dines elsewhere. Service in the restaurant and bar areas is dire too however those on reception and the concierge couldn't be faulted. On the last morning we ordered breakfast in our room - a full cooked breakfast, and received instead just two stone cold eggs, delivered (and I think probably cooked) by the night security man.
This hotel is due to close for refurbishment soon and hopefully will reopen with the high standards evident when it first opened several years ago. At the moment I cannot recommend it and it isn't worthy of a five star rating.

We have been to thease apartments quite a few times and they are always spotles and well equipped.
The staff are very friendly and will go out of their way to help you. The indoor pool is only small but great, they have a jaccuzi, sauna and a well equiped gym, only downfall is the steep hill leading up to them. (Oh and we could only stay a week).
We would recomend the apartments to anybody 5 star definitely.

Went for a long weekend for boyfriend's birthday. Summary -
GOOD
Very polite concierge and reception staff.
Room large, superb bathroom with double sink, bidet, WC, extra large bath and separate large shower.
Fantastic comfortable 7ft x 7ft bed!!
Large balcony overlooking road and golf course - good view.
Restaurants in hotel serving Spanish, Japanese and snack food. Japanese extremely good, sit at the table where they cook if possible!
Spa amazing but again very expensive, 75-95 Euros for massage.
Lovely grounds and pool.
NOT SO GOOD
Room facilities a bit basic for "5 star" but still good.
Room service extremely expensive along with all drinks.
It's about a 10 minute taxi ride down to Puerto Banus where the marina is. Nice town, seriously impressive boats and the cars - wow!! Like a supercar show. As to be expected all very expensive there but excellent restaurants. Best steak we've ever had in Los Bandidos so was worth the money.
Also recommend El Coto in the hills above La Quinta for excellent food and service.
All in all a great weekend. Would definitely go back although armed with a new credit card, more than a weekend would do serious damage to your wallet!!
