This is lovely hotel on the beach front. Only book the room with the sea view or try to get an upgrade to one for free. I stayed in triple room which wasn't big, but ok for 3 nights. The hotel has god Sauna and hamman bath on the 7th floor and roof pool with great bar. The... more

We picked this hotel because we wanted a room with a balcony & a sea view. The hotel is slightly removed from the main part of the town along the main beach road, Promenade des Anglaises. Most of the other guests seemed to be there on business, so probably didn't mind... more

Nice is a lovely picturesque place. It is full of good restaurants a cafe bars. A drive a long the Corniche with its breath taking views take you to millionaire’s playground Monaco.
But to go on all beaches there is a charge average of 15 euros each-the plus point waiter served all day!!
If going to Nice stay in the old town.

Good quality hotel but location is the only criticism
Stayed for a weekend in February. The room was city facing and very clean, with stylish modern furnishings and fittings, not art-deco at all, according to a recent review. The TV has plenty of international channels, including German, Russian and Chinese but no Dutch, which we always look for! We didn't eat here so can't comment on the food but the reception staff were very helpful and when we asked about late checkout, they immediately offered us an extra 3 hours without me even offering my loyalty card. Although it's not that far from the airport, you can't hear much plane noise anyway, even when strolling along the beach. The walk to the centre is very pleasant along the wide beach promenade. Negatives: it's about a 30-40 minute walk to the centre and buses tend to stop running at about 21:00, and even earlier on Sunday. However, there are bus stops literally outside the hotel. One other note - some buses refused to stop for us so I'm not sure what that's about! Taxis to here can be very expensive from the centre (€14 for a relatively short trip along the beach front). Breakfast is quite expensive at €25. Overall, the standard is fairly high and if you don't mind the walk to the centre, it's well worth trying.
January 2007 - Excellent Hotel and staff but a transport update
Chose the Hotel for a three night New Year suprise for my partner and found the Radisson to be an excellent choice as abase to tour the immediate area. The modern Hotel was immaculate with excellent multi lingual staff who were always helpful and accommodating. The room was quiet, well equipped and suprisingly large. There are some changes though that are not accurately reflected in previous reviews. Please note that the free Hotel courtesy shuttle to the Old Town is not provided from November through to March. This leaves three alternatives if you do not have access to a car. (1) Walk - its a pleasant and invigorating 40 minute stroll, or (2) Taxi - plenty available but expensive, or (3) Bus - a number 9 or 10 local bus costs a standard 1.30 euro fare from the rear if the Hotel to the Old Town (Gare Routiere). This same amazing price is available on all local bus routes and you can travel almost as far as Monaco for the same price. Please note however that the Number 98 Bus ( to and from the Airport - and stopping almost outside the Hotel) costs 4.00 euros per person. This is still considerably cheaper than a Taxi. Overall an excellent short break and a good base to explore this part of the Cote d'Azur.
Nice stay.....
This hotel is, I guess, what you expect from 331-room chain hotel. We were aware of the walking distance to the downtown area, use of the public transport is easy, but given the beautiful weather, the promenade walks are great! Had no idea about any kind of shuttle service.... The younger reception and concierge staff was very friendly and helpful. They have checked us in even at 9am with no extra charge and gave us sea view room on a higher floor! Gorgeous view! Also from the rooftop , but the bar does not serve any cocktails, so we enjoyed at least a coffee there... The only major downside of the hotel is the breakfast buffet. It is really not worth the 20 EUR! I think guests should received same service at 7am as if offered at 10am. Lack of glassware, one kind of eggs (scrambled), some shrunken sausages, hard pastries and breads, fresh fruit cuts far from being fresh.... well, we just wanted to give it a try one morning.. With soooo many nice cafes and boulangeries around, would eat out the next time.....
Typical Raddison Hotel, pretty dumpy
We had to stay in this hotel due to the fact that we were coming off a cruise with Regent, and this was the closest Regent/Radisson hotel to the Nice airport. The new decor of the hotel is ok, they are going for the art deco look not bad. The bar in the foyer is pretty cool with decent furniture. We found our room to be sub par, very spartan with not a lot of character. The soaps in the bathrooms are all liquid soaps, pretty gross. DO NOT EAT AT THE RESTAURANT ON THE ROOF, not only is it a rip off, but the food is horrible as well as the service. The location of the hotel is not very desireable, it is no where near the nightlife of Nice, you have to walk about 30-45 minutes to get into the action. This is not a bad hotel if you are just looking for a place to crash for a few hours, but if you are on your honeymoon or a special vacation I would recommned the Hotel Negresco, it is around the same price per night and is a much better location and more upscale
Beautiful hotel with a bad location
The radisson in Nice is a very modern, superbly designed hotel. Our room was incredibly large (one of the largest standard rooms we've stayed in) and was very clean. The rooftop views on the bar/restaurant level are spectacular and are a soothing sight whilst sipping a cocktail in the sunny weather. We stayed for five days, and had the pleasure of eating in the hotel restaurant and also having room service. The restaurant deserves a special mention, as both of our meals were excellent from start to finish, and reasonably good value. Radisson do seem to make a habit of having excellent restaurants though, we've stayed at two others they also had great restaurants. The beach is just across the road (although the road was a bit annoying, in that it was busy all the time, and full of traffic). There is a supermarket nearby, (within five minutes) so we were quite baffled by other reviews on here which stated the nearest supermarket was over 20 minutes away! The only thing that lets this hotel down is its location. It takes about 30 mins to walk into the old town (which is the best place for culture and restaurants). Radisson now offer a free minibus service into town but it only runs until 5pm, which isn't very useful if you want to eat in the old town at night.
Smart Hotel with some problems
Very smart hotel clean and tidy good staff. V Expensive. If holidaying here - dont. Might be good for business people. The hotel is an hour walk from any restaurant or night life. To get a cab costs €15 (£10 or $18). We objected to this as it is a bit pricey. The parking was €25 per day in the hotel. When we asked the concierge if there was a cheaper alternative he said that the doorman would valet park it for us for €20 per day. mmm, sort of overlooked the fact that directly across the road is free parking. I pulled them on this at the end of our week but the staff denied any knowledge of any free parking... strange that. We also asked the concierge about getting in to town and he helped us find cabs and the local bus and rental bikes (€25 per day each!). It wasnt until several days into our stay that we discovered that the hotel ran a shuttle bus into town. WHY DIDNT THE CONCIERGE TELL US ABOUT IT? One other moan, the fan in our toilet stayed on continuously. We were told that this was the design. It was a bit annoying. Oh, and €15 per day each to sit by the pool? Stand and Deliver!
Great place, in spite of its location
We stayed at the Radisson SAS, Nice, France for 3 nights in early September, 2006. Having read many of the other reviews in this forum, we had mixed expectations. Most of them were exceeded. Check-in was superb and efficient. The room was of exceedingly modern decor. Ours was on the 2nd floor backside, but the more costly ocean-side rooms have spectacular views of the beach and promenade. The city view from the 8th floor pool/lounge/restaurant is amazing, especially at night. The location at the edge of the city is the worst thing about this hotel, from a tourist standpoint. They do provide a FREE hourly shuttle service to the Plaza Hotel (downtown at the edge of the Old City) that runs during the daytime. We found that to be most convenient. City buses are easy to use, go everywhere, and are reasonably priced. Don't worry about the "ladies of the night" that others have reported; we saw them along the main street, but they were far away from the Radisson--at least before 11pm. The pool is free for hotel guests, but the third-party concessionnaire that operates it charges 15 Euros per day for use of the poolside lounge chairs and other facilities. The water was very cold. I had no problems with the poolside or downstairs bar service, and prices are what you'd expect at any fancy big-city hotel. The breakfast buffet included in the price of our room was above average--lots of cold meats, cheeses, breads, and pastries; bacon, sausage, watery scrambled eggs, and Japanese miso soup and rice; but no omelets (in spite of the sign), French toast, or pancakes. We didn't eat any other meals at the hotel, so I cannot comment on the restaurants. In-room WiFi service was free, but use of a hotel-provided terminal in the lobby was expensive. Large in-room safes are also provided free of cost. Foreign newspapers are free to guests, but they're kept under the concierge desk, so you must ask for them directly. Don't expect any U.S. papers before 9am. The rooms themselves were reasonably-sized, squeaky clean, and very quiet. While it's not a particularly "grand" environment, it was a wonderful place as "headquarters" for our 3-day visit to Nice.
Surprised
I did spend two nights in the hotel it is quite far from the center but hat great time at the swimming pool & at the bar very good service and pleasant people. Suprised by Cocktails.... I just want to say congratulation to the evening team at the bar.
Good rooftop bar, terrible service
The hotel is located at the far end of the bay near the airport. It is about an hour walk into the old town and about 45 minutes walk to the airport terminal. Facilities in the area are limited and the beaches nearby are stoney and whislt the sea is fantastic, getting in and out can be rather painful on the feet The hotel is modern and well decorated with good amenities. Rooftop pool, bar, and restaurant are well located for a great view over the town of Nice and the bay between the old town and the airport. We found the service at the hotel to be, at best, indifferent, and verging on the appaling. Having phoned the main desk three times to tell them that we had a twin and not the double we had booked we were finally assured that it would be changed. Nothing happened. We were assured it woudl be sorted by the time we came back that evening and it wasnt, at which point we were told that there was no double availability. The food in the restaurant was ok. Starter was fantastic. Main was terrible. Service there was so slow we took nearly 3 hours to eat, including the 30 minute wait at the end to sign the bill. Service at the bar was equally slow. Waited 20 minutes for 1 beer to be poured. I guess the bar man was watching the world cup game as he turned the TV around from facing the guests to face him. Bar and restaurant horribly, horribly expensive. Complaints finally led to a reluctant offer of a free two night stay at the same hotel. Not sure if i will take it up, even for free.
Great base but a trek to town. Beware of surcharges!
Modern hotel very handy as a base for exploring rest of Cote D'azur. Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel immaculately presented. Downsides - 3km from Old Town where best restaurants and bars can be found and taxi costs anywhere between €15-€22! Local buses are available but not very frequent. Didn't like fact had to pay €15 just to use a sun bed for roof top pool plus similar again to use the gym and it also cost €20 per day to use car park. Should have checked hotel website before booking
