Don Carlos Hotel

This 5 star has fantastic grounds and stylish rooms. However, don't be fooled into booking the EURO 45 lunch or dinner arrangement. The food is mediocre, bland and way overprized. For the same amount of money two people can eat great food at Los Tony's or other beach restaurants just outside the hotel.

After reading the recent reviews, I was not to sure if the Hotel would meet with my expectations of a five star accommodation. When I arrived at the Hotel if was pleasantly surprised by the lobby area which is decorated is a modern and elegant style. My surprise was even bigger when I opened the door of my room; contemporary style, lcd television, spacious and comfortable. stayed there recently with my husband and two children.the staff while not always fluent in english was very friendly and helpful. the gardens are unique and huge,and the beach club very children friendly.for grown ups there is a separate beach club run by the famous Nikki beach brand,an absolutely incredible place! i was a bit disapointed by the rooms we got but after commenting at reception was told all the rooms and bathrooms of the hotel were going to be entirely renovated this winter.i was then shown the sample floor and... more

The Don Carlos has a nice pool area and fantastic gardens but is otherwise pretty average. The bedroom wasn't particularly large and was dated - the bathroom was tiny. Apparently the bedrooms are being renovated over the next 12 months - not a moment too soon. The reception area had the feel of an airport executive lounge and is immediately forgettable. This Hotel is NOT IN MARBELLA as described, it is approx 12km away, and very badly signposted, it took me an hour to find it (note there are no detailed maps on their website) now I know why. I was so disgusted with the misrepresentation of the hotels location, that I did not stay, but still had to pay!

everything was OK, the breakfast, the pool, the dinner and the hotel;just 2 bad points: - the rooms were too old for a 5 star hotel - they must be renewed.. - as I came at the hotel i went to the beach at 4.30 pm; they wanted me to charge a 8 € for the chairs at the beach at 4.30pm!!! By the way 8€ for a day is too expensive

Had a great time in Marbella. My advice: rent a car so you can easily get to Porto Banus for night time fun and it is an easy drive to Granada to go to the Alhambra. The breakfast buffet is wonderful, but if you don't want all the calories, it is just a short walk or a one minute ride to the supermarket which has wonderful and inexpensive produce. My wife and I stayed at the Don Carlos and were very pleased with the grounds, the pool, and the service. I asked for roses and champagne and the staff handled the pre-request with no problem. Room service offering were adequate. Moreover, the room was better than I had planned. The restaurant and food offerings were weak at the hotel, but who goes on vacation for hotel food...not I. The stay can add up as not a lot is included in the cost of the room.

I have fallen in love with its gardens and service. Staff really cares of your wellness. Junior suite is great, recently refurbished, and wonderful views. Food above average. Te beach... unforgettable. I can´t understand how anybody can find something wrong about this hotel.

we went back to the don carlos for the first time since 2001.the hotel has been refurbished in a great contemporary style.very cool and elegant. the staff seemed younger and much friendlier. the food quality is way above average. the gardens are spectacular and impeccably maintained. we stayed in one of the new suites they have built as an extension to the hotel in a private wing.the quality of the suites is as good as any of the best resorts. and finally the prices are a steal,best value for money in marbella
