Palazzo Murat Hotel

We stayed here for 4 nights last August (2006). Aside from all the "romantic" reviews, this was a very practical choice. It is low in the town so walking around is very easy (compared to Sirenuse which is much further up the hill). They prepared our room about three times a day and were always very polite. The balcony and veiw were fantastic. We usually take the least expensive rates but in this case we chose a better room and it was really well worth it. We had never been to the Amalfi Coast, but from what we understand in regards to the summer heat and the tourists, November was a great time to go. The weather was comfortable (probably low-70's during the day), and the town wasn't packed with people. Also, we had rented a car and were able to park quite close to the hotel in a lot, which the hotel helped us reserve. We arrived after 8 pm and at this time of year, Italy gets dark by 4. Pallazzo Murat is a very lovely hotel everything is right , the setting, the standard of the rooms, the atmosphere and the service. Although it doesn't have a direct view of the coast, the views from the rooms possess a charm all of their own ,across the botanical gardens and the rooftops of Positano,just catching glimpses of the sea. Positano is such a romantic town and this hotel is perfect for a getaway with someone special. I too hesitated to write a review as I didn't want to give away the secret! As soon as you walk in the entry courtyard you know you're someplace special. Beautifully landscaped property. While this hotel is not inexpensive, it's worth every penny! We are almost hesistant to post a good review so we can keep this place to ourselves! The property is great, rooms nice and clean with AC and very good service. The absolute best is the free boat tour with the captain Garibaldi...one of our best travel experiences ever, hands down. I will not even try and describe the whole thing here, just suffice it to say that we went every single day we could and would return just for that. Just got back from a 2 weeks vacation in Italy and we stayed in this Hotel for three nights... it was absolutely amazing and the staff was very friendly... we can't wait to go back to Positano and stay in this Hotel

This has been really the best place where we have stayed during our trip in Italy: the entire staff is so helpful and always ready trying to satisfy your request. The Hotel is very well located andthe room we had had really a lovely view of Positano and of the amazing gardens of the hotel. We would highly reccommed the Hotel Palazzo Murat and we will bw back for here when we will be back to Italy.

The food in the restaurant was so disappointing. We're both used to eating out at great restaurants two or three times a week in London and had expectations of at least a comparable standard. It's incredibly rare that either of us encounter a meal that is so bad that it's almost inedible but that's what happened here. The fish was not good to say the least!
