Posa Posa Hotel

Was here for New Years 2005. Originally booked a room with no windows for a low rate. The desk attendant was so friendly upon arrival and the visit seemed off to a good start. However, upon going to room 508 we discovered it to be about 90 degrees farenheit and full of extra linens and boxes of shampoo. When we complained at the desk, all they would offer was to put us in the "only other available room" for an extra 100 Euros a night. My Husband and I were in Positano in February 2004 and got married at this Hotel. The staff were wonderful, especially Nello. We loved Postitano, loved the Hotel. It is in a great location, the bus stops right outside the Hotel door, and takes you down the hill into the town. It is VERY steep, and requires a lot of walking, not for the meek at all. We stayed for 3 nights at the Hotel Posa Posa inbetween Christmas and New Years. The hotel was okay but there was nothing outstanding about it. We did pay the upgraded price to stay in a suite and I wish we had just gone with the lower priced room. The location is definately off the main strip and I'd would definately stay closer to the beach next time. Especially during off-season. Many of the restaurants by the hotel were closed so you had to go down to the beach area to eat or shop.

After a wonderful stay in Naples we were really looking forward to Positano and the Posa Posa. We were quite disappointed. When we checked in no assistance was offered with our bags which had to be carried from the offsite parking lot (20 Euro per day) up a hill on a narrow but active road. The room was basic though the view is spectacular (though we give more credit to Posotano than to the hotel for that). We made the terrible mistake of eating at the hotel. We stayed at the Posa Posa in the middle of our Italian honeymoon, and what a delight! Our room, room 203, had the most beautiful view of Positano, the mountains, and the ocean. It was stunning. The room itself was large, with a large sitting area and couch, and a comfy large bed. Stayed at Posa Posa in July 2004 for a week. Really great hotel, away from the crowds at Spiaggia Grande, but easy to get downtown either by the local bus (stops right outside), or by walking down Viale Pasitea, or the stairs that take you down to Spiaggia del Fornillo (you can then walk along the coast to Spiaggia Grande). The Posa Posa is a lovely hotel. Our room had a gorgeous view overlooking the bay. The room we got was designed for wheelchair accessability, so it was very spacious - nice! The staff is very friendly. The breakfasts are feasts, so definetly opt for the breakfast package- very much worth it. We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant on our first night. The food was mediocre and overly priced. Better food can definetly be had at nearby restaurants. The Blue Grotto restaurant by Bar International is awesome, great value, but slow service.... more

My husband and I adored Hotel Posa Posa. Our room was spacious and clean, and we loved the large balcony with lounge chairs and a lovely table and chairs. Every evening we would have wine out there before dinner. The staff seemed to care a lot about how our stay was going. The breakfast is super. This hotel is not cheap, but relative to comparable Positano hotels, it's great value. It's hard to go wrong with restaurants, and there are some lovely ones on the (steep) walk up to Posa Posa. We've been to Positano before and it is magical. We stayed with our kids(then 11 and 8) at the Posa Posa in Dec of 2002 and just loved it. The views are great, especially from the breakfast room. It's a hike into the center of Positano (and then back up), but Positano is one big hill. It's not for the meek. The hotel is beautiful and the staff couldn't be any nicer.
