Grand Timeo Hotel

Get yourself a room with a view, because the view is fabulous, both day and night. The Mediterraneon below, and Mt Aetna in the distance. We were on Floor 1, where the rooms also have a small terrace, ideal for evenings and night. The service is good, the front desk is attentive and the concierge knows her stuff. The location is excellent, right next door to the roman amphiteater,and a short distance to Taormina's Corso Umberto, the main drag with great shops and many restaurants. Try the steep side streets if you want to avoid the touristy stuff. Or wander in the hotel gardens, and enjoy the outdoor pool. Rooms are large and beds are comfortable. Bathrooms have both a tub and a shower. Other than breakfast (which was OK) we did not eat there so I can't tell you if the restaurant is good. In the 3 days we were there there were 2 wedding receptions but other than seeing the guests pass through, they went unnoticed. All told, we had a great time!

Great location, comfortable if not a bit dated rooms and a nice helpful staff. Very good breakfast included in room rate but you'll wait awhile for your coffee. Evening cocktails on the veranda is a real treat.

Reception exceptionally helpful and responsive. Room nice, classic style and well appointed, great view of etna, and the bay. Bathroom needed renewing, taps and shower tired (good quality 30 years ago!) - shower difficult to manage. Nice products. Hotel really elegant and a pleasure to be in, breakfast terrace just stunning. Pool area a key feature, plenty of good loungers and seating, towels. Excellent little bar and food/drink service. Dinner extremely pricey - does not encourage repeat use. We had a couple of screw ups in service which the hotel dealt and and rectified in an imaculate way - they were really eager to hear feedback and make things right for us. New manager just started and both he and the duty manager went out of their way to give us a really excellent week here. The sister hotel beach is crowded, and we found unpleasant altogether - but the terrace restaurant made up for it, lovely food and service.

We spent 10 days at the Timeo in July for our Honeymoon and we were very impressed by the hotel. The location is perfect - it gives the same view over the bay and Mt Etna as you get from the Greek Amphitheatre. The staff were very welcoming - when returning to our room on the first night, we arrived to a bottle of champagne and an indulgent chocolate cake. They were very courteous and professional throughout the stay. We also made use of the free shuttle bus to the sister hotel, the Villa Saint Andrea, to use its beach, where the good service continued. Our room was in a newer building across the street (a very short distance) from the main building. It was spacious and had an excellent view. It was all the more impressive while lava flows were visible on Etna! Oh, and breakfast on the terrace is stunning!

My wife and I spent a week at this Hotel and really enjoyed our stay, returning to the UK refreshed and renewed. Our room in the adjacent Villa Flora was very comfortable, although we found the bathroom rather small and cramped. There was a superb view to Mount Etna. Breakfast was excellent both in quantity and quality, but we did find the dinner menu expensive and limited, and there was much better value in the town. However, nothing compares with the views from the terrace, so a drink on the terrace followed by a passegiata and a meal at one of the many excellent restaurants in the town would be our advice. We found the service at the Hotel amongst the best we have encountered, but what we shall remember most of all is the staff who could not have made us more welcome, and the degree of service we received from them, served always with a ready smile, is the stuff we can only dream of getting in England nowadays..

My wife and I stayed at the Timeo for a couple nights in mid-June in a very nice suite with a great terrace. The hotel is lovely, in a perfect location (beautiful views and quiet, but only a three minute walk from the center of Taormina), with a very nice pool. The gym is small, but the equipment is first rate. The staff was pleasant and professional. Breakfast was excellent. Yes, it was expensive, but to us it was worth it. We stopped at the San Domenico while we were in town and it looked very nice too, though it did feel a bit more formal than we would have wanted.

This hotel is quite pricey for what you get. The breakfast was lovely, the views very nice. In general though, the rooms are very small,a nd so are the common areas. In general, Taormina is a very congested palce compared with Capri or Santorini, two similar places. I thought the Monte tauro looked good and seemed to be half the price. the amibience here was nice, the staff nice, it was just very overpriced for what you get!!

travelled to taormina on a business trip I'm not a luxurious person so I found stuff off the top the mini bar prices were scandalous, but I guess proportional to the rest the hotel is really centric to the small town and the staff were pleasant there were many small details, like chocolate by the bed at night shower, shampoo, body lotion... by etro! the glass panel for the bath wasn't my favourite because it would only cover half the bath so water from the shower splashed on the floor music to be heard everywhere in the room + bathroom plenty of towels and slippers found the cotton sheets were not as soft as I like them got the room in the middle of the gardens wich is nice when you wake up sorrounded by birds and trees, but quite a walk if you intend to get in and out of the room several times. the views from the terrace where breakfast is served cannot be beaten the breakfast can hardly be beaten either

This hotel is on some of the most stunning real estate in Sicily. The building is beautiful - in the center of a very touristed town. Our room had a "million dollar view" with a terrace but was small (no problem). The issue is service. We had several incidents from the time of reservation to the moment of checkout of very poor, low end service. There is an international service standard for hotels of this class. It appeared that there was a complete a lack of training of the staff. We spoke to the manager who only responded with a shrug. If you do plan to stay at this hotel, be aware - lower your service expectation and bring plenty of Euros - but boy is is pretty. A note on dining: breakfast is excellent at the hotel. Go out on the town for better food for lunch or dinner.

Nice room with a view of the ocean, impossible to drive to... No hot water for 24 hrs and nobody knew why (feigned not understanding English) very disappointing especially after a hot, long trip to get there... Why cant anyone in Europe have a regular shower door or curtain??? Lastly, price was over the top and definitely NOT worth it...
