Just so-so
a "downtown" hotel in a dirty congested city. Rooms were of adequate size, but no good views - either an inner courtyard (with scaffolding up) or street. Buffet breakfast was fair a best. Scrambled eggs almost liquid every day, undercooked bacon (not unusual in Europe) but certainly enough other things to satisfy one, i.e., cold meats, lox, juices, croissants, rolls and bread, canned fruit. Barthrooms are adequate. Lobby bar very nice and entry and lobby well done. City has mostly narrow streets, cigarette butts all over the place and... more
Surly staff
Several members of staff at this hotel were surly, breakfast was hit or miss with crockery cutlery and items of food often not available, and the internet was very poor or not working -and they still tried to charge for it!
Good, but details need attention!
I had a week at the Centrale Palace Hotel, in room 338. I booked a neo-classical room, as comments about the Classical rooms do not seem positive. 338 is at the back, which means a quiet location, away from the main road at the front of the hotel. (I would not want a room at the front, there is constant traffic noise there) The room was not big, but adequate, and looking at a plan of the floor of the hotel, the Classic rooms are smaller. So, I would advise that you go Neo-Classical. There was no bath, but a shower. Its OK, but... more
Soooooo overpriced!!!
So yes, the hotel looks quite impressive inside. Our very expensive room was tiny. With just small shower, no bath, and you had to call reception if you wanted a bath robe. When they say breakfast is until 10 AM, they mean it: they switched of the lights whereas we were still eating! They also forgot to mention, until the check out, that although parking was part of their list of services, it was not free, nor cheap… Given the star rating of the place, the service was more than appalling: we asked them to book a restaurant for us, but they... more

Dear Sirs, I am very sorry for the problems you have had and If you wold like to contact me, I would really appreciate your help in clarifying some points. But some complaints sound very strange. - Bath robes: It is now normal in most of the hotels not to find them in the room. Anyway , I am sure that you received your bathrobe in the room as soon as you requested it. - Breakfast: normally we take care of our guests until very late after 10 a.m. This is our practice also considering that many of our guests are journalists, politicians and actors that require a late breakfast for many different reasons. We apply the same care to all guests. In particular the lights are never turned off for internal technical reasons. - Regarding the room and the price it would be very interesting for us to understand better your case. Please contact me and we will try to give you the right answer. - Front office service: we try always to do our best for the customer. Let us apologise for problems, but give us also the possibility to identify the staff you refer to in order to have the 2 sides of the story. Sometimes misunderstandings between human beeings can happen and frakly I found a bit exagerate the rating you gave, especially if compared to the other guest commentaries that we receive every day. I hope to have further contacts with you in order to answer any comment that you may have. Best regards, Monica Mennella

Mixed feelings
If you are a tourist and don't have your own car, the location is the best thing this hotel has to offer. Most places you will want to visit are either in walking distance, or easy to reach via public transportation, since the hotel is half a block away from the intersection of 2 central avenues one N-S, the other E-W. The rooms and bathrooms (we had a "neo-classic") are large, bright, clean and comfortable, and so are the beds. Ou room was on an pretty interior courtyard, and therefore quiet. The breakfast room was pretty, and (except for... more
Disappointing
We stayed one night at the Centrale Palace Hotel in August 2006. While the hotel’s interiors are magnificent, some modern additions spoiled it. There is a nice roof-top terrace. In the corridor, there was nice music playing on but, on our floor, it smelt like toilets perfume. Our room (classic No. 401) was small and lacked character and charm. However, it was comfortable and had a nice view over Palermo’s roof-tops and mountains (4th floor). The bathroom was nice and functional (with nice toiletery products) but very small. Buffet... more
Avoid this place!
We were very disappointed with this hotel and would recommend other travellers to avoid it. We stayed in a double room in the newly renovated wing for 2 nights. The room was clean and had a nicely renovated bathroom, but was very small and noisy (due to construction across the alley); overall, the room was disappointing and hardly resembled the photos on the hotel web site. The bigger problems however were with the reception area - gloomy, shabby, and generally depressing, with an aura of much-faded grandeur (now catering to tour groups) -... more

Dear Guest, as you have written the hotel is nice, clean and it is in a fully renovated noble palace. Let me just clarify that: unlike any other "modern" building the rooms are different in size and style according to the structure of the palace. That is the reason why we propose to our guests a classification of the rooms with different rates. The reception is full of light (the roof is made by glass) and the furniture is composed by original antiques masterpieces and some new comfortable couches and sofas. Of course, it is a question of "tastes", if you like the classical style or prefer the modern. The hotel has a rooftop Restaurant with terrace, very appreciated by our guests and outside customers,. It offers a stunning view on Palermo and especially after dinner guest like to take a drink in the terrace and relax watching the beauty of our City. It would be something to try in order to reconsider your opinion. The service is one of our bigger proud, as you can read on other comment and as many of our guests write to us directly. The warmth, the attention and the professionality of our staff is something that I can reassure you. I would be grateful if you can be more precise on you comment, in order to let us understand better where was the problem and solve it. I hope that you came again to Palermo and instead of trying a new hotel, it would be our pleasure to let you change your mind on the "glorious" Centrale Palace Hotel. Regards, Monica Mennella

Medium
We spent 2 nights at Centrale. We had a very basic Twin room on the back which is much better than staying above the main road and the traffic. Rooms are simple but oldish. windows do not close well and the price is very much too high. The only very good thing is breakfast: very abundant and varied; try the homemade jams they are excellent! The Reception people are very kind.
Comfort and Convenience - a good choice
The newly renovated Centrale Palace offered everything we needed to enjoy Palermo – comfortable amenities, courteous service, a generous breakfast buffet that fueled us for a day of sightseeing, and best of all, its central location in the very heart of Palermo. We appreciated the hotel’s private and secure parking and we easily walked to most of the sights. When we were tired we used the public bus that passed right in front of the Centrale. Their restaurant “Ai Tetti” has lovely views of rooftops of the city and is where... more
disappointing experience
The hotel should be rated at no more than one star. It was clean. There are few amenities. Although advertised as having non smoking rooms available, there is no smoking permitted anywhere. No ice is available for use in the rooms. There is no workout area; although there are signs indicating the location of a spa area. We were told such a facility might be available next year. One towel per occupant per day was provided; there are no robes available. There is no concierge service. The front desk attendants were aloof and not... more

Dear Guest, I am sorry for your experience but I have just few information in order to clarify some point: The smoking area is always open to our guest, one should just ask for it to locate it easily. It is located near the bar in order to give to smokers the possibility of taking a drink and smoke in all relax. Bathrobes are at guest disposal on request as well as extra towels. I hope you will visit our hotel again in order to enjoy your stay and change your opinion. Best regards, Monica Mennella
