Angedras Hotel Reviews

This is a little gem. Highly professional staff able to speak a number of languages. Rooms have everything you want for a short stay and nothing you do not want: - spacious, clean, quality linen, good bathroom, no trouser press or tea and coffee facilities to get in the... more

Outstanding

Outstanding We have just come back from a five days stay at the hotel Angedras in Alghero, and we can honestly say that we never stayed in abetter three star hotel ever. The hotel is about three years old but it looks as if it opened yesterday. The room and the bathroom were very clean with soft white fluffy towels; the breakfast in the open terrace was something to remember great choice of breakfast and real Italian coffee. This is a small family owned place with the management style and service of a high class hotel, something that in this day and age is very difficult to find. P. Williams
I wish we could have stayed there

I thought I would let people know of my recent experience with the Angedras: We decided to go to Sardinia, and as usual I read many reviews on Trip Advisor and with so many good reviews about it I contacted the Hotel Angedras to see if we could stay there. Although we could not have the days we wanted, we decided to go ahead with a reservation, for which they requested a deposit of EUR 400 for 2 rooms, by VISA. No problem, so I thought until my wife's 97 year old grandmother was taken seriously ill and into hospital (where she still is - weeks later). Understandably, my wife was now hesitant to go away, whilst her grandmother may pass away, so very reluctantly, 2 days after booking I asked the Hotel Angedras to cancel our booking (for 5 weeks later) and refund my deposit. This is where the problem occurred - delaying the refund from 28th June until 15th July. They also said that they would charge for refunding to VISA and then said that they were unable to make refunds by VISA. Eventually, I received the deposit less nearly 30 Euros, paid into my bank account, after many e-mail requests and delays on their part. The reason for this post is to warn others when making hotel reservations, to check the terms and conditions of cancellation and also to check that your travel insurance covers cancellation due to relatives being seriously ill (not just themselves). It is not the same in all European countries, as it is in the UK & USA. I will certainly be a lot more cautious next time I make a reservation. I am sure that the hotel is as good as the other reviewers say, alas we will not be able to find out.
Believe the reviews!

So many reviewers of this small, 3 year old hotel were so enthusiastic that there was a danger of the hotel not living up to the hype however having returned yesterday evening I can say that this is a little gem and such great value. We spent 3 nights at the nearby 4*Calabona which was fine, clean, good pool etc but our four nights at Angedras (Sardinia backwards by the way!) cost almost 100 euro less that the three at Calabona. The hotel is personal, modern, clean and with a great terrace for beakfast. The hotel have an arrangement with a private beach at Pia Maria (a real beauty) for free pick up and return. Hire of loungers etc approx 15euro for day. A glorious 15 minute walk into Alghero old town from the 'quieter' end of town is a joy. There is a downside! the air con is so effective and so close to the bed that on the hottest evenings finding the balance of on or off is difficult and can disturb your nights sleep. The walls are also a little thin. Wouldn't let either of these things put us off going again, Alghero old town is a joy and so worth a visit.
A very comfortable stay

We spent 5 nights at the modern Angedras and found little to complain about. The room was clean, comfortable, bright and airy. The bathroom was well appointed although the shower stall could be claustrophobic for some. Noise level wasn't noticeably high - perhaps we had considerate neighbours! The staff were helpful when approached and breakfast on the terrace made a good start to the day. Excellent coffee, cappuccino or cafe latte individually brewed. The only setback is the location. While it's quiet and away from crowds, it's a good 15min walk to town and the nearest decent restaurant. It didn't bother us that much except when laden with shopping! I recommend the Villa Piras and Trattoria Maristella for dinner - both are within walking distance from the Angedras.
an excellent choice

This small hotel is in a quiet situation but within about 10 minutes walking distance of the old town. Location not ideal if you have mobility problems, but hotel itself is disabled friendly. Staff most welcoming and helpful, rooms attractive and simple - spotlessly clean. Breakfast on the terrace is delightful with tempting choice of cold buffet and great coffee.
Great hotel!!
from UnitedKingdomTravel
We have just returned from a 4 day trip to Alghero and we stayed in the Angedras hotel. It was the cleanest hotel I have ever seen!!! Most of the hotel room is white / cream so any dirt would show up straight away. The room was large and it had a nice balcony which you could relax on. The location was great as it is a 8 mins walk from the hotel to the coast. There isn't really a beach within walking distance, but the hotel has a free shuttle bus which takes you to the beach everyday. The breakfast is fairly basic, but it is fine for the first meal of the day. There is no dinner served here, but it gives you more excuse to go out and eat. This hotel is great value for money, and I am surprised it is only a 3* hotel. In the main town there are several restaurants with sea views and small shops to browse. Being Italy the food is amazing but I wouldn't say it was cheap!! To see the island you need a hire car, which we got for around £120 for 4 days (fiat Punto class). The drives through the mountain are great and you can drive to nearby towns very easily. You can also find some great beaches which are full of tourists....
Still good value

Just spent 8 nights at Hotel Angedras based on trip advisor recommendations. Plus points - friendly staff, comfortable beds, clean rooms, free underground parking, good breakfast. Minus points - no refrigerator, breakfast room in cold or bad weather only has 5 tables not enough for 24 rooms, no instructions re tv, air conditioning, leaving times or customer satisfaction forms, no shower soap dish, poor insulation between rooms (ear plugs a must). A good hotel that could be even better with a bit of thought. Trattoria Maristella, Via Kennedy good but Macchiavello Restaurant, Via Carvour in Old Town even better.
Great place!!

We have just returned from a week long stay at the charming Angedras on the outskirts of Alghero and would like to thank the hotel's owners and staff for a wonderful time. What a great place and good value for money! The hotel is small (24 rooms?), light, airy and VERY CLEAN. There is great attention to detail in the decor of the rooms. As it is a good 10 mins walk into the centre of Alghero, the hotel is very quiet at night and ideal for those who do not want the hustle and bustle that goes with staying in a town. (The only downside is the size of the breakfast room, so we made sure we were there by 0800 prompt so that we could have a table.) We had a truly wonderful time walking in the countryside around Porto Conte seeing Giara ponies, Sardinian deer and many birds of prey. It is simply breathtaking!! Don't hire a car; take the bus, it is much more fun! For evening meals, we recommend the Pizzeria Aragon (opens at 1930 for dinner), Alghero town. Great food, good prices! We were dropped off at the airport by Francesco of the Angedras and my husband, inadvertently, left his camera equipment in the car! After frantic phone calls by us to the hotel, Francesco returned to the airport with the equipment in good time for us to get our flight. My husband wanted to pay Francesco for the detour, but he would not accept any money from us. A very big GRAZIE to Francesco!
Good stay, great value at Andregas

Chose this hotel on the strength of Tripadvisor reviews and it paid off yet again. Excellent value for money, all areas immaculately clean and staff helpful. Bedroom and bathroom quite spacious and breakfast well above average with fresh fruit and excellent choice of freshly made coffee (arrive early or late or you'll have to queue for a table, but this should improve when the terrace opens in summer). Room pleasant (some noise penetrates from corridors so bring earplugs), bed comfortable and shower hot and powerful. The restaurant Al Tuguri in the old town was our favorite but the crema Catalan at the local pizzaria La Lanterna is to die for if you like desserts. Also worth mentioning are the quantity and quality of Alghero's gelaterias! We found the landscape of Sardinia amazing. Wild mountains, cultivated plains, wetlands, ancient villages perched on impossible ledges. castles on headlands, beautiful coves and beaches - everything on a grand scale and mostly unspoilt. Well worth hiring a car, but be careful how you drive - we met on the winding roads tall cows, massive bulls, large pigs and sheep! Really had a great time and will return both to Sardinia and Andregas.
Modern 3* within walking distance of Alghero centre

We spent 2 nights at the Angedras in early February, and as usual the reviews on tripadvisor were accurate and very helpful. The hotel is recently built and the room we stayed in was very clean with new looking furniture and fittings. We had a double room with good sized bathroom (although no bath) and also sizeable balcony. No great views from the room, but pleasant to be able to to have your own space outside. Breakfast was an excellent buffet with coffee/tea made to order. The breakfast room was quite small and on the first day we had to wait about fifteen minutes for a table, but in better weather you get to use what looks like a great rooftop terrace for breakfast, and probably no waiting. This is not a 4 or 5 star hotel, so don't expect a pool, and it is a good 10 minutes walk from the centre, but you can follow the coast road into town which is very pleasant. Even out of season, 96GBP for two nights, including an all you can eat buffet breafast was a steal. We would both recommend this hotel highly.
