Novotel Hotel

OK, so we come to Nice for a vacation and find ourselves staying at L'Hotel Novotel, just after spending a few night at Hotel Palais de la Mediteranianne. Please, do yourselves a favor and avoid this hotel. Here's why: Staff: easily the rudest employees I have encountered in all my travels. Completely ignorant of their guest's demands, they have a tough time getting you a new room key without sighing or giving you looks. stayed at this hotel for 10 day's in august with my husband and 2 children. had a great time, i was a bit worried about some of the reviews i had read but i must admit our stay there was fine, and reception staff very helpful and informative and friendly. our room was ok . our tv controller did not work and it was sorted out straight away, also one day we did not get enough towels and we rang down to reception and within minutes we had some new towels, we had clean sheets and towels everyday. breakfast's were fine, a good selection of food... more

If you enjoy an hour walk through construction, garbage in the street, & closed businesses to get to the beach or decent part of town...this is the hotel for you! The staff was beyond rude and difficult...they were much too busy hangnig out together to be bothered with assisting hotel guests. Please make sure you have your cell phone...the phone in the room does not work...not even to call the front desk or another room! Contrary to what you may have read, safes or safe deposit box...not an option! Do not bother buying the Internet... more

You've come to Nice. Why would you stay in a Novotel well away from the Riviera, if you have any choice at all? The rooms are fine. The breakfast is fine. The service is fine (when they answer the phone). The location, though, is silly for a person looking to experience Nice. Even for somebody who's there for a conference... stay on the beach! ok. it never pays to be too fussy when staying in a novotel. you get what you pay for in terms of location, amenities, cleanliness and room size with this group. we stayed here in early april for 5 nights and this hotel is almost identical to the other novotels we've stayed in. the location is pretty anonymous, situated in the expo area and right next to a sofitel. staff were friendly and most spoke english. nice old town is easily accessible for the reasonably fit and there is a good, inexpensive (by riviera standards) restaurant called... more

We were travelling along Barcelona, French Riviera and Switzerland, and unfortunatelly have decided to sleep in this hotel. The experience couldn't have been worse! They also gave us a smoker room that smelled awfully, especially inside the toilet room that we had to keep closed at all times. We had to mantain the window open all day long so the rot smell would become bearable. Stopped here for a long weekend break with my wife, doing Nice "on the cheap." To us, unless you are going to be in your room an awful lot (and why when you have travelled to go and see somewhere new?), a hotel room just needs to tick the boxes - clean; comfy bed; aircon that works; ensuite with bath; and preferably with a pool; close to where you want to be; and helpful staff on reception.... I would disagree with some of the comments in other reviews. Breakfast was quiet for most of the time we were theer but there was rush at 9:30 onwards as late risers all came into together. The hotel was well used by coach parties so there were periods of ebb and flow. Our air con worked perfect. Room had panoramic views across the hills to the rear of Nice. Conveniently located for the conference exhibition hall, is about the only really positive thing I can say about this hotel. I was given a basic but adequate room, with a typically French (that is, quirky but clean) bathroom. The air-conditioning in my room didn't work and, because the hotel is situated adjacent a very busy junction, it was impractical to leave the window open. It was uncomfortably warm. They gave me a smoker room, which smelled like they had left ash to rot in there. I am not a smoker and I generally dislike the smell, but in that room it was horrible. I left the window open during the 3 days I was there and in the end it still smelled pretty bad. When I asked if they would change my room they denied. On top of that the localization is bad, more than a mile from the beach, and the price is relatively high.
