Worsley Arms Hotel

The hotel is set in a lovely village in North Yorkshire. We received a warm welcome and were shown to our room, which was across the road in a cottage. The bedroom (room 18) itself was lovely, but the bathroom had some damp and felt as though it needed a good clean and could have done with re-decorating. The hotel itself had friendly staff and had a nice cosy feel. There were just small factors, which just let the hotel down a bit. My wife and I stayed for four nights for a break taking the chance to visit old haunts in Yorkshire. The warmth of the welcome soon overcame the cold of the late winter spell this year. The owners and staff were all, always very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a cottage across the road which was very convenient because it enabled us to let the dog out very easily onto the green. We were attracted to the Worsley Arms hotel by the location, outside York but close enough to travel in easily, and the positive comments we had read on TripAdvisor. Needless to say, both matched our expectations. The location was ideal, rolling hills and delightful villages surround Hovingham where the hotel is located, whilst the quality of the welcome we were given, plus the fact that nothing seemed to be too much trouble for the staff, meant we felt that we were valued as guests, which is not always the case in other hotels. One of the most relaxing hotels i have ever been to! Comfortable bedroom/bathroom, evening meals very good, breakfast a delight! Open fires in most rooms. Looking forward to booking again.

Stayed at the Worsley Arms in October - about 25 minutes from York (so not a city centre hotel) but only 5 minutes from Castle Howard (a stately home) if you had planned to visit it whilst in Yorkshire Welcome was warm, hotel and rooms are good. Ate in the Cricketers bar - restaurant quality food and excellent prices - dinner, desert, excellent G&T's all came to about £30. Coffee with the log fire. We booked this hotel based on a great last minute offer and we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was spacious, clean and well appointed. We ate dinner in the bar area and the food and drink were excellent. Steff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good. The hotel is located in Hovingham which is about 25 mins from York, it is a pretty little village with a nice pub down the road.

Arrived and greeted by Sally (part of the owner duo along with husband Tim) shown to our room which was across the road in a pair of converted cottages. Beautifully furnished, large bath, fuffy towels, the lot! This made going out to dinner so much the experience as we trotted across the green separting the two buildings. Had our pre dinner drink in the wonderful walled garden and made the difficult decision of choosing from the outstanding menu.
