Craig Manor Hotel

Stayed for two nights on mid week offer. Room was ok but furniture needed updating. Room was clean and warm. Food at hotel and the dining room are the selling points. Two excellent 4 course meals and good breakfast, service was a bit hit and miss on first night, new staff we think, all staff friendly and polite. Good central location. Would stay here again.

I booked the Craig Manor because I got a good deal through there website including dinner. For the money I paid I was not expecting five star luxury and so was pleasantly surprised on arrival that the room was nice, clean and had some great views. I was even more surprised at the quality of the food each of our two nights. I was expecting a limited menu but was very pleased with the large choice on offer. The staff were also very friendly and relaxed. A good all round hotel and what a beautiful location. We will stay here again when we go back to the Lake Distrit.

We decided to spend a kids-free weekend in the lake district and chose the Craig Manor Hotel form a websearch. We would highly recommend the hotel to anyone, the staff were friendly and helpful(they allowed us to rush straight to dinner after a terrible journey stuck on the M6 for 5 hours) and made us feel at home and relaxed straight away. The room was clean/tidy and well furnished (we had a four poster room with a lake view)..the bed was very comfortable,the room was warm and the hotel quiet and relaxing. The only minor issues were 1)The lake is not very close but can be seen through the trees(plus point is that you can watch a good game of Rugby on the pitch behind the hotel on Saturday if you want to!) 2)noisy extractor fan in the bathroom... 3)George the Parakeet in reception is a bit grumpy mind those fingers!! To sum up Excellent Hotel, Excellent staff, great location, Highly recommended, wouldn't hesitae to use this Hotel again. Andy & Angie, Stoke-on-Trent England

We visited the Craig Manor in August 2005 for our first anniversary and would certainly not bother booking anywhere else in the future, Craig Manor will definitely be our first port of call every time. The hotel was immaculately kept throughout, from the lounges, bar & restaurant to our room itself, which was a beautifully furnished four poster with stunning views. The staff were lovely and very friendly, in particular the restaurant staff. The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated and the food absolutely faultless - a well varied menu and wine list, which lived up to every expectation when sampled. Also the location of the hotel is ideal - an enjoyable ten minute walk down to the lake, passing various shops along the way. Unfortunately, the hotel's website does not do it full justice - it is much nicer to see it for yourself! In all, very highly recommended.

On the phone the were very polite, all booked with no problems. Made the long drive got to the hotel and was promptly in the room..... which hadn't been cleaned properly. Under the bed we found someone else's stockings, hygiene products, a wine glass and general rubbish. This was followed up by the complimentry tea / coffee having 3 month out of date UHT milk, that had become solid. Our lakeside view was ruined because the room was over the kitchens so all we had was steam / smoke coming out of the kitchen extractor and we couldn't see a thing out the window. The bed springs had gone so all night you would slide towards the middle of the bed and couldn't get comfortable. There were other quirks such as having the heating on all the time which made it very hard to sleep, the shower being only slightly wider than my person, and the cold water tap running hot at times? The great dissapointment was that the manager was uninterested in our problems and not once contacted us, during or after staying, even once we filled in a complaints form. Very dissapointed, ruined the trip.

We found the Craig Manor Hotel to be an excellent choice for our five day visit to the Lake District. Our room was warm, comfortable and very nicely decorated. We had one of their four poster rooms which we felt made it extra special. The breakfast and dinner menu choices encouraged us to eat in the hotel every morning and evening and we were never dissapointed. We give the hotel five stars.

Spent last two days of a week long tour of the Lake Distriict at Craig Manor. This was by far the nicest hotel we stayed at during the week. We experienced genuinely friendly staff and some memorable meals. Sandra in the restaurant was a star as were all staff we came accross. The hotels location is great for both the lake and the town. My only regret is that we were not given the chance to get a room with a view of Windermere....maybe next time. Highly recommended and value for money.

A very expensive room- £114 per night, booked 4 weeks in advance, with bubbly requested for arrival. Booked four poster lake veiw room. Bubbly was not in room on arrival, and we were asked to wait 2 hours until barman arrived. Room small and not worth £114 per night. Bed a double size, shower ran out of hot water after 4 minutes, shower dripped all night, bed uncomfortable and 'lake view' was very small glimpes. We informed reception of problems, there answer was 'rooms will be rfurbished next year'. I see on website that it claims rooms in delux already refurbished- not true. Our room hadnt been touched for 10 years or more. Not good value for money and not what you would expect from £114 per night.

Stayed here twice and would go back year after year. The four poster room I booked was spacious and had gorgeous views over the lake. The hotel staff were very attentive and the restaurant was 1st class whilst being very reasonably priced. The hotel is within walking distance of the centre of Windermere. A definite winner!

Stayed at the Craig Manor Hotel in November 2003 and had an excellent time. There were great views from our room, breakfast was great and dinner was even better. The staff were very friendly and made us feel so welcome. A great hotel with lots of character. Already re-booked for 2004.
