Medicis Hotel

Just stayed here for the second time (the first being last year). Staff still as friendly and helpful as ever and the breakfasts were very good. The room was a little small but the bathroom was a very good size and it was very clean. Yes, it is a walk from the Promenade but we used to enjoy the walk after our dinner and drinks in the evening and it didn't really take that long. Plusses: Nicely sized, clean, quiet room (by European standards). Friendly, helpful staff. An excellent bargain for the rate I paid through a booking service. Very convenient to the train station. Minuses: About a 20 minute walk from the beach and the main restaurant and shopping areas, but we needed it after the excellent dinners.

My wife & I spent 3 nights at the Medicis at the start of June. The hotel was more than adequate - yes the room was small but we were here to see Nice not the inside of our room. Everything worked & it was clean - what more do you need? The staff were always pleasant & helpful, suggesting places to visit & also how to get there. Yes the hotel was more than a 10 minute walk from the restaurants & the promenade, but it was a necessity after the wonderful food we ate. We stayed here at the end of May, start of June '05 for 10 days. The staff were quite helpful. One of the younger women in particular, was excellent. When I dealt with the older woman, she wasn't unfriendly, but not enthusiastic to help. Our room was 446, top floor, with balcony, facing the street. There is a bit of traffic noise at night, but not bad by any means. We did have a bit of bother on a couple of nights with our neighbours banging doors almost constantly for about 30 mins. When my husband and I stayed in Nice, France, last week (March 31st to April 3rd, I was a bit disappointed when I saw the hotel and the location, which was near the train station. But the staff made up for any disappointments that we might have had. Unfortunately, while in the train station at CDG, my money and credit cards were stolen. The staff made all the necessary phone calls and never charged us. They put us in touch with the proper officials, etc. So, appearances mean nothing in time of emergencies. Just back from 5 day stay at Hotel Medicis. Room 112 on 1st floor. Hotel very handy for Gare de Ville Nice (10 minute stroll), and 15 minutes from sea. Very friendly staff, small room but at this price acceptable. Large throughpout of clients so sometimes noisy when they all pile in after night out. Would recommend, and would return. This was our first trip to Nice and everything went extremely well. When we arrived after an overnight flight the staff immediately checked to see if the room was ready without being asked. Didn't just try and call, they went up to the room. Also gave us some suggestions on where to go and what to do. Very friendly. The room was a good size with a small sofa and full bathroom. Although the lobby and front look great in pictures don't be tricked. The rooms are dirty, dark, and small. We even noticed a strange smell in the room. The staff was an old grumpy man who barely moved when we asked to check in. The hotel is also located near a bunch of XXX adult video stores. I would not take my kids to this neighborhood at night. We ended up going to another hotel and were very happy. You can spend your money better elsewhere.

This was my first trip to Nice and the hotel was easy to find near the station. We arrived two hours early and the staff were very helpful. They made us a coffee and our room was ready in 10 minutes. Apologising even though we were early. It seemed they were genuinely happy to help us and make us welcome. Travelling up and down the cote d'azur this was an excellent base as only 5 mins from station. Rooms were basic but clean and warm. Would definatley recommend this hotel. I am going back in January

Have visit Medicis in Nice once and ther was most frendly and helpful staff. Had some problems up on arrival since the hotel din't accept my reservation through WORLDRES. After some irritating phonecalls during a couple of hours we finally get our room. The room was very small with one window against a dirty backyard.
