Petit Palace Arana

I have recently returned from a trip to Spain where I spent three nights at the Petit Palace Arana, selected after reading reviews on TripAdvisor. I loved the location in the Old Town, but I could easily reach the Guggenheim and other areas on the tram, which stopped about a half block from the hotel. The front desk staff were very helpful, and I also enjoyed the free access Internet station in the lobby. The hotel is now owned by High Tech Hotels and has been recently remodeled. Good location, and close to the tram stop (Arriaga). The desk staff were quite friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the rooms were something of a disaster. First night (room 209) persistent and strong sewer gas odor in our room gave my wife a headache. Dark mold growth on ceiling of shower. Half used shampoo bottles, etc were left for us (not replaced by staff). Also, a number of light bulbs were burnt out. Second night, per our request we were moved to room 210 - stench not as bad, but still present. Shower controls were broken... more

Fab location and hotel has great decor. However stayed in room 102 (seemingly one of your other reviewer stayed in this room!)- right next to emergency exit which staff seemed to use constantly from early am, and the generator which was so noisy we couldn't have the window open. Also safe and hydro shower in room didn't work and toiletres were not replaced - in fact empty bottles were left in the shower when the room was cleaned.
