Les Cigales Hotel

This hotel is a good option in Nice. The staff really went out of their way to be friendly and helpful (and they speak good English btw). The room was nice, the bathroom especially so. It's on a quiet street close to the beach and shops. It's an easy 10min walk to the station too.

M. Valentine is the nicest, most hospitable and helpful manager we've ever encountered. His restaurant recommendations were excellent. The hotel is small but the rooms are comfortable. Although it's not in the center of Nice, the city is small enough that everything is within walking distance: the train station, the old town, the Cours Saleya. We and our teenaged daughter spent five nights at this hotel for Spring Break. It was well-located, spotless and welcoming. The staff was helpful and professional. We were in Room 7 at the front of the hotel on the first floor. There were noisy times at night--even with the nice double glazed windows. We all used earplugs, though, and could sleep well. Just got back from Nice after our 4 night stay at Les Cigales. When we arrived we were greeted by the staff and were given lots of handy information for Nice. The hotel manager gave us good advice and helped us find nice resturants and places to visit (their english was great). Everyone who worked in the hotel was friendly and helpful. Stayed here for 3 nights during Carnival. We were on the early flight from London, arrived at the hotel around 11.00am, expecting to just leave our bags and come back later. Surprise, our room was ready and we were escorted to the 2nd floor (There is a lift) and our superior room on the front. It was worth paying the extra for this room - much bigger! What we got: Standard double with wardrobe, TV, desk and bathroom. Positives: Polished lobby; squeaky clean comfortable room, incredibly friendly desk staff who were above average in providing directions and restaurant recommendations (in halting English), addressing a toilet that didn't work, and coordinating our delayed baggage delivery; room-darkening curtains; convenient to beach and a bus stop, a little less so to train; close to pedestrian street with touristy restaurant choices. simply stated this hotel was our most surprising and satisfying of a month of hotels in europe. hotels for a lot more and some for a little less could not compare. we will return.

Just spent 3 nights in Les Cigales, in central Nice, after reading reviews on this site. Very central, just a couple of streets up from Promenade des Anglais, and within walking distance of most places. 5 minutes from pedestrian area with lots of restaurants, and plenty of little shops in Rue Dalpozzo itself, including excellent Boulangerie.
