The Swan Hotel

Lavenham is the pearl in Britain's oyster. It's the most peaceful place on earth when you wake in the morning all you can hear are the doves cooing. If you want to rest your tired bones and escape life's pressures and take a break this is the place. But it's steeped in history. Some buildings as old as 1300 a cafe in the town called Tickled Pink is a delight built in 1532. It has the most indulgent scones with jam and cream. Sit on table seven upstairs and spy on the village below I read a book whilst taking a cream tea it was blissful. But there's excitement too most of the places I visited have a ghost or even two. The Swan where I stayed is so old men and cigars without the smell and open fires and old leather chairs. The timber framed buildings are fabulous to behold. The doors are so small you can just imagine the people who have passed through them in the past. The Swan was a coaching Inn in the days when wool merchants traded there. Wander around the shops you can get some quite original presents for friends here it's wonderfully and typically English. Sit in the square outside the Angel Inn and I'm sure you will see anyone who is anyone pass by. I saw a famous male actor enjoying a pint in his local.
