Where to start? Thank heavens we got two rooms as the apartments are so small, we could just cope with two people in each.
Basic is a complement. The walls are paper thin, we were awoken each morning at 4.00 with shouting and screaming, you could hear every word in the next room.
The pool is not maintained, with weeds and old furniture and you have to pay for a bed.
We had to pay 100euros cash deposit on arrival. The room was not cleaned, no rubbish collected, no clean towels for a week.

I have just returned from Spain and wanted to write an honest and complete overview of the Doramar Apartments.
I am 40 and a member of both Club la Costa and Sunterra, so I am used to high quality holiday accommodation. On arrival at the Doramar you book in with quite friendly staff where you will be asked to leave a £40.00 or 50 euro deposit for the remote controls. You will get this back on checkout no questions asked so long as you return both of these controls.
The apartments are on six floors, ours was on the 6th floor and basically it was one huge room partitioned off. You have a bathroom (sink, shower & toilet) a bedroom 2 single beds (can be pushed together) and a front room. This has a sofa bed, a kitchen, a table, a wardrobe, a telly (no English channels apart from CNN & BBC world news.) The cooking facilities consist of 2 rings and a toaster, but if you are creative it is enough to have a meal in the apartment. There are cups, plates, cutlery, saucepans, frying pans, allsorts of things you need. The one thing that really struck me was how clean the place was. The beds and settee were really comfy too. The only drawback for me was the fact that there was no balcony.
If you want clean towels, cleaning or clean bedding during your stay these are extra. I know for 4 clean towels it was 3 euro, not too bad. If you are staying for more than a week you will get clean bedding and towels for each week you stay. The shower in our room was ok a bit of pressure lost as it was the 6th floor I think, however other people we talked to said theirs was really powerful. The aircon is free and works great.
Now for what I considered to be the best part. The bar on the ground floor is called the El Dorado and the staff there are fantastic, they made our stay very enjoyable. There is entertainment in there every night although most of it is aimed at older people 50-70. The one entertainer we really enjoyed was Jason on a Wednesday night. We couldn't hear the music in our apartments, and the live music must stop at midnight. Then they play CD's.
In the day the El Dorado own the pool and you should pay 2 euros per day for the sun beds (if & when you use them). Although sometimes we paid sometimes we didn't, it was a bit hit and miss. The bar does simple snacks and the food is very good. Again the pool and pool area are exceptionally clean. The one thing about the pool is the shallow end is quite deep.
So all in all we have a very good experience, I have added my age to this post to give you some idea. There were people there with children who seemed to enjoy their stay too. I would definitely revisit these apartments.
Out and about in Benalmadena.
You can very easily get a train from the airport. For 2 adults it cost us 2.60 (euros) Then a taxi to the apartments is about 5 euro. A taxi to and from the airport will cost you between 20 & 25 euro each way.
We found some good bars for entertainment one being the Elephante (just up the road) the other being Busbies (just down the hill and right.) Monday night in busbies has Terri Fox a drag queen and a must see. Also right up the hill from the apartments is Bunnies. This is a fantastic night out with the queens he he. Across the road from Bunnies is the best restaurant we found, run by 3 Spanish people its an experience not to be missed. A meal for 2 costs roughly 20 euros and this includes a bottle of wine. Its called Paraiso I would have eaten there every night if my husband would have let me.
Well I hope this helps, I would recommend the Doramar apartments to anyone of any age. But bear in mind the apartments are on a hill.
In Ibensa square (up the hill) there is a good laundry called Kim's laundry. She'll wash dry and fold your clothes for 6 euro.

Well I thought this place was brilliant to say how cheap it was! The pool was warm and the bar had great staff who were really friendly and can speak English. I was very glad that we were just down the road from the 24-hour square! It was fantastic with great clubs and lots of English music.
There is people there all night until about 7 in the morning, its a great place for young people. I was quite surprised at the number of Irish bars around, just next to doramar apartments is the 'Mad Ass' which serve a great bangers and mash. Finally the beach is very close and clean. The only bad thing about this place is having to buy fresh towels and bed sheets.
P.s go to the selwo marina its cheap and a great day out, i swam with sea lions.

Myself and friend just wanted a cheap get away, and that’s what we got! Cheap!
The rooms were small but I must say clean! And lets face it, its better then being big and dirty. You have to share the pool with the apartments next door, I didn’t ask why.
All the staff were very nice, always friendly and very helpful, but they didn’t really know the local area over all. The 1 thing that I couldn’t get over was the fact that you have to pay if you want your towels changed, room cleaned or clean bed clothes! We only found this out on the 2nd day when one of the other guests told us!
Over all it’s a cheep hotel for just a cheep get away, but is very clean! Oh yeah if you do go take your own loo roll as you only get one roll!

I booked this via the internet in June of last year and I was highly delighted with the accommodation given the cost. I returned yesterday, 4th March, we heard no 'shouting or screaming' at 4am any morning! The only noise we noticed was the bar had 'turns' on each night but it didn't go on much after 12 midnight. The apartments are small but for 2 people they have ample room and the bathroom and kitchen area was obviously quite new, and they were very clean. If the previous reviewer had done their homework via the internet, they would have found that the apartments didn't have balconies or maid service (unless you paid extra), you had to put out your own rubbish (dustbin 50 yds around the corner, hardly an issue!) and you had to pay extra if you wanted your bed linen and towels changed before the first 7 days. The pool area wasn't exceptionally fantastic but given that 5 mins across the road there was a huge clean and more or less empty beach where you could park your towel for nowt AND there were clean, free public toilets I think they need to get a life. Places to eat - recommend paella at Mama Ginas on the front (outstanding) and The Orange Tree restaurant - near the big windmilly thing sculpture near Park La Paloma. Also Chinese up the road past the tobacconist (same side) had a set meal for 2 with wine and it came to approx £17. We had a meal on the marina on the first night on the recommendation of a friend and whilst it was nice the restaurants were quite empty and lacked atmosphere. Staff also quite nice at The Jolly Pirate and The Mad Ass just down the road if you want a drink or a lazy breakfast. Would definitely go again. £200 for flights and accommodation for both of us for 5 nights, worth £200 of anyone’s money and cheaper that 5 nights B&B in Scarborough where it may persistently precipitate, if you get my meaning! Added bonus - weather approx 24 degrees each day and we didn't need a jacket at night. Luverly jubberly!
