Hotel Pulitzer

Pulitzer is in possibly the best location in Barcelona - just off the Parc de Catalunya, one minute from the top of Las Ramblas. Inside, the hotel looks great and the staff are extremely helpful. The rooms are on the smaller side, but not uncomfortably so and we were asked on arrival if we wanted a queen bed rather than two singles so no complaints there. Pulitzer is a very nice small hotel in the very centre of Barcelona, with everything at just a few steps. The rooms are maybe a bit too small, but we didn't mind that much because we were out most of the time. Modern, neutral design, very good service and the only thing that really bothered me was that you actually don't have a queen bed but two singles that are connected into a queen, so it's not very convenient if you're staying with the loved one. I loved this hotel so much that I have recommended this to so many family and friends. They loved it too. Location is great at the quiet side but within walking distance to La Rambla, restaurants and the largest El Corte Ingles dept store in Barcelona. Everything is so modern and they have complete bathroom amenities. Since we stayed twice at this hotel once had just a shower and another time had a bathtub.

We just got back from the Pulitzer. It is stylish, perfect location and perfect lounge with great service. Go there!

My husband and I stayed at the Clarion Pulitzer recently for my birthday, and were delighted with it. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly (yes, we agree that Edward was extremely helpful and knowlegeable), and they went out of their way to help us. They provided champagne and a birthday cake for my birthday, and Edward researched and found a Mozart concert for my birthday, which also happened to be Mozart's 250th, at the beautiful concert hall nearby. I surprised my wife with a trip to Barcelona for her birthday and after a shaky start (missed connecting flight in Frankfurt) we arrived at The Pulitzer, late, tired and stressed. First impression was that it is much bigger than it appears on the websites. Once inside it is as funky and contemporary as I had expected. My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Pulitzer for 4 nights recently. The hotel is really new and hip and has a great restaurant. It is also in a great location near the Rambla, within walking distance to many tourist sites in the city. On the other hand, the place has its quirks that get old pretty quickly. Our room had recurring electrical and heat problems and while the staff was friendly, they were pretty ineffectual about really fixing anything or making any reasonable accommodation on our rates, etc. Also, while the hardwood floors... more

We paid US $200 + tax for this room and felt that was a bit much for what we got. HOWEVER, if you are looking for a modern hotel with the perfect location, and are not willing to pay top dollar, then the Pulitzer is a good choice. There are a few drawbacks. The rooms are very small (we only bring carry-on luggage when we travel, yet there was barely room to store it). We also found that the maids had not cleaned our room very well when we arrived. My daughter and I stayed in Spain for 7 days and ended up at the Pulitzer after our experience at the first hotel went bad. We randomly walked in and asked if they had rooms available and they were able to accomodate us for the remaining of our trip. After reading a few of the reviews about smelly eggs, no hot water, and small rooms. I'm sorry to say but it is Europe, learn to deal. I thought this was a lovely little hotel, particularly considering how inexpensive it is. Our room was small but well equiped (not so good for business travel but fine for holidays), clean and very new. The noise of doors banging in the corridor was a little loud, but didn't keep either of us awake after our first night. The bar was cool without being pretentious, although quite quiet, and the staff were lovely (we did make the effort to use what little Spanish we know, which maybe helps).
