Gounod Hotel

This is a great hotel in a convenient location -- close to the train station and minutes from the beach and attractions. Great service, including a complimentary breakfast. Looking forward to my next stay there.

We stayed here for a birthday treat for my friends and we were all impressed with the hotel. The Linen and towels were changed every day and the continental breakfast went beyond the normal cereal and croissants including scrambled eggs and sausages, danish pastries, fruits, ham etc. The service was friendly and very helpful when needing information and we all agreed we would be back again. This is a great location for exploring Nice and beyond in particular if you don't have a car. A short stroll to the train station to the left and to the right a brisk walk to downtown Nice. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was lovely,full of character, french windows to a small balcony but wonderful you could soak up the atmosphere of the colourful sreet when you came home in the evenings by having your apertif and just chilling out, it was also v. clean, cleaned everyday, fresh towels provided....everything worked ,great... more

The service is priceless, we arrived late in the night to a warm welcoming smile.. We were given lots of advise what to do in our short stay in Nice, and highly recommend the tour with francois, I have travelled allover the world and he is the best yet, his knowledge and patience was fantastic. We have just returned from a four night stay at the Hotel Gounod in Nice and having taken due cognizance of the previous comments we selected the Hotel. We throughly endorse the comments made by previous reviewers and especially the helpful and friendly attitude of the staff. I highly recommned this hotel to those seeking value for money with good service.

I stayed at the Gounod hotel together with my wife for 3 days/nights. We found the hotel good indeed, and can certainly recommend it for stay in Nice (but except for beach-fans). The hotel's location is excellent: five minutes walk from the sea, and the old town, and the railway station, and everything needed in Nice. At the same time it is situated on a quiet one-way narrow street, and that is surely better than to live on overcrowded (and over-estimated, by the way) Av. des Anglais. Just back from a 6 night break in wonderful Nice. Booked the hotel on the internet after searching through hundreds of hotels. Read the reviews on Trip advisor and were really glad that we chose this hotel. Pre-arrival infromation and service were excellent. We arrived late and were greeted by a helpful young man. We had booked a suite and were extremely pleased with our rooms. Both were huge and had a seating area and fridge. The rooms were immaculate and we had clean bedding and towels every day. I stayed at the Hotel Gounod in November 2005. The rooms are very clean and the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was more what I'd expect in the U.S. than in France. The refrigerator in the room was a great bonus for keeping perishables purchased at the market and the wonderful local bakeries. The hotel is very easy to find if you take the bus from the airport. It's about a 5-10 minute walk to the water and is convenient to the flower market and pedestrian area.

Rooms are of decent size for a European hotel. Very clean with large newly remodeled bathroom. The rest of hotel is dated, but quaint. Staff is friendly & helpful, and breakfast is simple but fresh & tasty. We booked our stay with other legs of our vacation so our rate was discounted. They have a parking lot, but charge an additional 12euro pr day(worth it) if you have a rental car you don't want damaged by parking on the street. You still pay to park on the street so why not have to hassle looking for a parking place while on vacation.

you won't be disappointed service rooms and hotel itself are very nice reasonable price well situated two/three block walk from the water plus= you get to use Hotel Splendid
