Cambridge Belfry Hotel

Stayed @ this hotel for 3 nights with Family,Strange location and very new town. However the hotel is a true gem inside from the Excellent Reception Staff(Very Very plesant and attentive reception chap) to top spa treatments. All rooms are very clean (well mine was, and what I could see of others!) The only downfall was that the hotel was very hot! This hotel is dire. It has a bar / restaurant with numerous different rooms you can sit and drink/nibble in but there were three customers in all evening on a Friday night. Most of the staff are inept or downright rude. Had to wait 40 minutes for somebody from the bar area to find a key to open the cabinet to get some pretzels. Whilst the dress code itself is no problem, the staff enforcing it were like school teachers. Stayed 2 nights at this hotel in end of Feb was very good standard extremely clen and good facilties, staff all very helpful,but...a very big but! The hotel public areas are so cold! when i checked in was freezing,all lounges are unbearable and both reastaurants! i really dont know how the staff stand there all day,it's disgustingly bad for a new hotel!!! Excellent hotel and staff it seems let down by the cold!

Stayed here one night on business and had an enjoyable stay. Very nice pool and gym. Standard rooms are of a high standard and very comfortable indeed. My only criticism would be that the service in the Brasserie could have been better, though the food served was of good quality and I thought not bad value compared to other hotels. Drinks very expensive however. Decided to stay at this hotel at the last minute. We thought it was in Cambridge but was quite a way out.To begin with it looked like an industrial estate. After having a sandwich and a drink at the Brasserie (£20 for two)we decided to explore the surroundings, we walked for over 2 hours and appart from a Morrisons, school, 2 estate agents and a chip shop there was NOTHING else- no newsagent, post office, restaurants or even a pub.The 'town' was all new build and had a strange atmosphere. Spent one night at the Cambridge Belfry on leisure. Room modern and clean with nice toiletries, also DVD player in room. Opposite a big Morrisions, so popped over to get some snacks and a cheap DVD to watch later on. We ate in the Bridge restaurant - food was nice, chefs are trying hard but overall the food could have been better for the price. breakfast was a good selection, but buffet style hot breakfasts always dissappoint me a bit as the food is never hot enough and the fried eggs can get a bit congealed, but the continental selection... more
