Holiday Inn Norwich City Airport Hotel Reviews

Dec 2007, Mrs C S Faux

We chose this venue for our wedding - 17th Feb 2007. We had the most glorious sunny day with lots of photo opportunities in the garden. We had friends coming from all over the country, staying at the 2 airport hotels, the day wasn’t without its hiccups, mostly only... more

Did the Job
We stayed here for one night and the purpose of the room was somewhere to sleep. That being said, having stayed in countless airport hotels this was one of the better experiences and definitely the cheapest. Cost us £69 online. Check In was effortless and for the first time ever we were on the ground floor which made the stagger back from the party much easier! The room was clean and the linens fine. We had two twin beds which did take me back to my school days but we both found them very comfortable. The usual Holiday Inn ameneties were available and once we found the hairdryer it was all good. Room was quiet and air con was better and quieter than many 4 and 5 star hotels I've stayed in. Has a good night's sleep which was the plan. The only downside (partly our own fault) was that we hadn't booked breakfast the day after in our package so just paid there and then. We sat down a to a full english (perfect hangover cure) and it cost us £28 which I think is a little extreme. Heh ho, it was what we needed. All in all this was a good 3 star airport hotel that far exceeded many others with a higher rating we have stayed in.
Good value
Having read some poor reviews of this hotel, I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was perfect for a one-night stay while visiting friends in Norfolk. Unlike some city centre hotels, there was no problem with parking and the hotel was easy to find from the city's ring road. Check-in was fast and receptionist very welcoming. The room was looking a little dated - but had a comfortable Hypnos king size bed which looked newer than the other furniture. The only complaint, was that the cleaning was not as through as it could be. With beds on castors, there's no excuse not to vacuum under the bed. And in the bathroom, the sink was still smeary from previous soap. Breakfast was included and was the usual buffet. A good cold selection was let down by an understocked hot selection. For the price - it was good value.
Have been at least 7 times and will always go back!
Well what can I can about this hotel, have now stayed there about 7 times and even had my honeymoon there, there have been some changes since it has gone from a Hilton to Holiday Inn, but from what I can see, all for the better, you do not get all those quirky little things like water, crisps, chocolate and dressing gowns now, which to be honest you end up paying for anyway! unless it is a special occasion which I requested when staying on 22nd to 24th July for my daughters birthday. The hotel is great, fantastic carvery and the breakfast is buffet style, all you can eat, which we do! sets us right for our shopping trip into Norwich. Hotel is presently being refurbished, some may say its looks tired, but I think it has character, the rooms have just been fitted with air conditioning, and a new mini fridge which you have your own key, and a safety deposit box, we always have a family queen room, which has a queen bed and double sofa bed, which is great for the kids, rooms are quite large and have a big bathroom, with bath and nice shower. Definately improving every time we return, even the prices have got cheaper, call the hotel direct for a better deal, we paid 109 pounds for 2 nights bed and breakfast with dinner on the 1st night, kids eat free, what a bargain! we were almost paying twice that with the Hilton all for a those little luxury items!
Only for Convenience
General decor a bit tired and old fashioned although there are notices to say refurbishment is planned. Waitresses & reception can be surly and unhelpful. The breaksfast is okay but is kept heated until it runs out - a tip, you can always ask for a fresh egg, if you can manage to get the attention of one of the staff! The evening meal cavery is a bit hit & miss, same rules apply, it is heated (& drying) until the food is finished! Pool & gym good My recommendation - only use for convenience and for short time periods.
Wasn't that Bad
Upon arriving the reception area was clean spacious and very good looking! Was sent to the wrong room but this was corrected straight away! Room was massive - Super King bed and a single sofa bed for our daughter. Room decor was a little dated but perfectly acceptable! Bathroom was also massive and shower was quite powerful. Breakfast was good. Great variety of cooked and cold food. Really couldn't fault the food quality or quantity. Don't bother going to this hotel if your expecting a Hilton quality hotel. The Holiday Inn was perfectly comfortable and the pool was great. We stayed for one night but would definitely return! Hard to get better for the rate we paid unless we stayed at the travel inn next door.
Only To Be Used in an EMERGENCY
Arrived approx 10pm off flight noted that 2 people on trying to check in told place overbooked! Luckily I had pre-paid and a room was available. This turned out to be pretty shabby and cramped for my wife & I but was adequate for the 1 night. Breakfast was adequate but staff surly - maybe starting at 6am makes them like this? They were all local Norfolk people cleaning up tables etc. The place seems to be very badly in need of refurbishment and staff 'shake-up' as all standards were very low. Would not recommend place except in a emergency!
stay away
an insult to the hilton name!!!!!!! this hotel might be ok for tribute nights but i stayed at this hotel for what i thought a hotel was for, ie to stay at not an entertaiment venue. arrived to find a very tired looking reception area. anyway upon arrival in the room it does get better or maybe not. 1 walls dirty 2 armchair ripped the arm was hanging off. 3 very old fashioned decor. 4 dust everwhere i wont even mention the top of the wardrobe where someone had wrote please clean me !!!!!!!! say no more!!!!!! 5 maybe the cobwebs from the wall lights to the ceiling were from some halloween convention. 6 wardrobe door knob hanging off. 7 some of the toiletries in the bathroom had not been replenished from the previous guest, just left half full. there must be better hotels nearer to norwich airport
nice, but without character
The Norwich Hilton, located adjacent to the Norwich airport, offers good-sized, clean rooms and pleasant service. I've stayed there twice, for 10 days each time, with a group of Americans with high standards, and most of the group seems to be satisfied. That said, the Hilton has no air conditioning, and temperatures in the 80's last August didn't go down at night enough for me to get much rest, even with a floor fan and wide-open window. The dinner buffet, with the usual carvery board, boiled veggies, and heavy dessert, drove me to a nearby pub for the balance of each trip, where I absorbed some English culture and lots of Indian food. If you're looking for an American hotel in England, this is the place for you. If you're looking for an English establishment, go elsewhere.
An Awesome night out!
I visit the Hilton Hotel in Norwich Airport UK often. The theme cabaret nights are such great value. But on Friday 14th June 2002 I saw what can only be described as the most awesome night out ever! I saw an act called "Abbagirls" a two girl tribute to Abba. The sound and lighting effects together with some amazing and dazzling costumes wrapped up with what I would say as two of the finest vocalist's I have ever heard made a perfect night out. I have seen loads of tribute nights and loads of Abba acts but nothing can compare with the act we saw on Friday. If any one gets a chance to see the Abbagirls go! they are amazing. I believe they are back at the hotel in July. A lovely hotel and a top tribute act made me and my freinds have a simply awesome night. Sonia Farrell (Mrs)
