Boscolo Plaza Hotel

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights before staying in Monaco for a week, we stayed 1 night on our way home. The hotel purports to be a luxury 4 star. We booked online and got a good rate for a hotel of this rating ( we thought). When we arrive the only parking available was next store in a public car park for €30 per night. The Hotel looked impressive from the outside as did the lobby. I had read mixed reviews about this hotel so wasn't really sure what to expect. However, we were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed our stay. Based on previous advice on tripadvisor (which said the classic rooms are poor) we made a point of booking a deluxe room. We got a large bright room on the fifth floor with a huge balcony with a great view over the park and out to sea. We felt conned and misled by the publicity blurb on the website. "All rooms have a fabulous view of the bay or the enchanting city" is not true. Our window looked out onto a filthy wall only 3 feet away. "The 182 luminous, spacious rooms are decorated in sun-kissed shades of pale yellow" the hotel hasn’t been decorated since the 1970s it would seem and the carpets still retain all the smells of the last 30 odd years. Having stayed in a Boscolo hotel in Rome we were expecting great things from this hotel. It is terrible. If you suffer from lift claustrophobia then book another hotel - two tiny lifts which crawled up and down the lift shaft. We were shown two bedrooms - the first was tiny and overlooked the back of the hotel and the bins- the second was larger and at the front of the building. Big mistake. Sept, 2006 Construction right in front of hotel. The Gardens were scary at night (homeless people sleeping on benches all day and night). Poor services asked to seperate beds from day one four days later still not seperate. Hallway smelled and rooms had water marks on the walls. Look over your bill twice we were over billed. Location was great.

This hotel is great! The rooms are huge... and very comfortalbe (except for the beds). The hotel is centrally located and is a short walk to the center of town and beach. The lobby is pretty luxurious and nicely decorated. The bathroom amenities were extra nice too (Etro). The concergie was very helpful as well. Overall, this is a very Nice hotel, literally! Word to the wise, Nice does not have sandy beaches (they have small pebbles/rocks, so take the train 15-30 minutes to "Juan de Pin" or "Caines" for sandy beaches. Monte Carlo is... more

I stayed here just for one night, a special occaision. We booked a deluxe room and were not dissappointed, ultra modern with a huge bathroom and huge bath for at least three! It was nearly to suite standard in size and appearance. The bedroom also had two balconies, and was very clean. Preparation was not four star though, the TV did not work initially and the mini bar was not stocked. We also were not shown to the room or given any guidance on arrival. Our trip was arranged by our adult children as a gift, and we found their selection of the Boscolo Hotel Plaza superb. Our room was more than spacious and the "continental" breakfast more than continental! It included fresh fruit, cheeses, breads and pastries as well as hot selections of eggs and meat, fresh juices, coffee & expresso. The staff was very friendly and although not flluent in English, they were eager to please. The lobby was first class of marble & brass & set the pace for our stay. We didn't stay at this hotel,but we dine in. We were looking for a nice restaurant for St Valentine's day and we found it. Restaurant Les Saveurs at Boscolo Plaza,the food is great,very testing,the staff service was very helpful and very nice. special thanks for the restaurant manager(Alexandre)who help us during the diner,we had a great time. My husband and I stayed at the Boscolo Plaza Hotel for 4 nights for our honeymoon in Sept. 2005. We stayed in Paris at the Hotel Brittanique for 9 nights and wanted to top off the honeymoon in style.
