Grand Quisisana Hotel

Neither my husband or myself had visited Capri,but we were meeting family for 4 days after 3 weeks of touring Italy. We had booked a Jr Suite for the stay.After having an extended time in Italy; we were looking forward to just relaxing. Hi, Just got back there with few friends. service was terrible, rude and arrogant. Rooms very average for such a price. would rather stay in another hotel with a suite at that price. only good thing : pool and location. apart from that, its a rip off. food is awful, especially at breakfast. so definitely a NO GO!

I like to give a tip for Capri island, When you book a hotel on the island of Capri, do not trust the stars. Sometimes you see five stars, but their are neither 5 stars nor 4, but only 3? So many stars only to cheat tourists and let them pay! You spend a fortune to stay in a little room, a room that should not cost more than 120 Euro (170$) in a normal hotel. My wife and I stated at the Quisisana in April 2005, on our first visit to Capri. The hotel and the island were quiet, so April seems to be a good month to visit. We took the four night 'Romance and Relax' package, which included a junior suite with full ocean view, an excellent breakfast every day, one dinner in the Quisi restaurant, and a massage and sauna each. A wonderful hotel. I do not understand what some of the other reviewers are refering to. Location, service, food, cleanliness are all first class. We would certainly stay again. We had a lovely large room with a sizeable terrace with a sea view. Very quiet as well which is important to us. Perhaps the choice of room is all important here as in many other hotels. Do not go for the cheaper rooms.

Having read the reviews and having a firm booking at the Quisisana, we arrived full of trepidation. We need not have feared. From the travel arrangements on the mainland made by the Hotel to the greeting on the quay in Capri... we were off to a good start. Everything thereafter was also excellent. We have stayed at a variety of European 5 star hotels, but the Quisisana was one of the worst! The staff seem to think that they are royalty or something. Their condescending attitude is quite unbelievable. This may be more true to those non-Caucasian guests. Their attitude improved slightly after they found out we spoke fluent English. However, I witnessed some other Asian guests being spoken to by the staff in an intolerable rude manner. It was a very unpleasant sight. the staff upon arrival is imperious and is not ingratiating. for $1000+ a night, the word 'NO' should not be in the staffs vocabulary but very much is. the travel books ( Fodors) says all rooms face the ocean--not true! we demanded a room with an ocean view after being brought to a room with nothing at all to look at except shrubs. the pool boys never walked around and asked anyone for drinks all day long-we had to go to the bar next to the pool and get them ourselves. most amazing was watching the pool attendants step over blown... more

First the good things: The concierge staff. I forgot his name, but most of them were wonderful, even though I'm sure we were in one of the cheapest rooms in the hotel. This service made our stay there reasonable. My husband's luggage was lost by the airline and the hotel took care of contacting the airline, researching the luggage location, updating us, and bringing it to our room! I could not imagine how much work we would have to have done (not speaking Italian) if we had to do this ourselves - trying to track down luggage in... more
