Swallow Hotel

I booked the Swallow Hotel prior to reading user reviews on Trip Advisor and I have to say that I was not looking forward to my stay after reading some of the comments, particularly about the attitude of the staff. You can imagine my shock when I walked into reception to check in only to be met by the frendliest and most helpful lady you could possibly wish for. My husband recently booked a romantic getaway for my 30th birthday, It was meant to be time away from the 3 children for us!! We arrived to find a number of christmas parties going on, On checkin the guy behind the desk looked like he couldnt be bothered to be there we went to our room which was a TWIN room and not up to much, After a shower and change we went to the bar which was understaffed and asked what time the restaurant was open to i was told 9.30pm, Around 9pm we went to the restaurant only to be told we couldnt eat in there as they... more

Recently my husband and myself stayed in the Swallow Hotel in Preston and were expecting the worst having read the review on this site. We were pleasantly surprised! Our room was a double room, clean and perfectly serviceable. Our ensuite was also clean and certainly no sign of mould! We did not avail of the dinner but did indeed indulge ouselves at the self service breakfast, tea, coffee and lots of toast brought to the table as desired. Tacky, run down roadside motel that caters for coach parties and corporate training (where the corporations don't care very much for their staff). Much of the menu sounds promising but is let down by the actual food, some of the menu is just funny ('prawns in pink sauce', anyone?). Staff behind the bar are helpful but reception don't seem to realise they are running a hotel and greet any request with blank faces. If you're lucky, ultimately, they might tell you how to sort it out for yourself but will never get personally involved. Mould... more
