Ramada Norwich Hotel Reviews

Please avoid this hotel, this is a sincere comment. As a field service rep and 29 yrs of living in hotels I can only say this is a disservice to the Ramada chain of hotels. The room though basic was fine unfortunately has no air con and the rooms are unbearably hot during... more

Very Disappointed
from mozarella
We stayed there for 3 nights and I am glad we didn't stay longer. The location is terrible, in the middle of an industrial estate next to Asda. Not really practical to enjoy the city. We knew it was not in the center but we didn't expect it that far or located in an industrial estate. We had one big towel for two on our first day. No TV remote control. Room quite small, hot and sticky air, you cannot open the window and there is no air conditioning. The breakfast was awful, the bacon and mushrooms were swimming in oil, the toasts were soggy not a great range of pastries nor cereals. When we wanted to check out, we were asked our room number, the receptionist said " ok cheers ..." that is it I would not go back there, it is too far from the center, breakfast awful, rooms ok. If we were to go back in the region we would try the Travelodge which is much nearer to the center.
Not as bad as some reviews suggest!

After reading some reviews were a little concerned. However on arrival we were warmly welcomed by the reception staff. We were staying on the first floor and there is no passenger lift and the luggage lift did not work but a member of staff carried our rather heavy suitcases up for us. The room was clean with plenty of storage and hanging space, bathroom more than adequate and the bed comfortable. Breakfast is buffet style with plenty of choice and the staff very friendly and helpful. Only one minor criticism that our bins were not emptied on one day, however all other aspects of room cleaning were satisfactory. Overall good value for money!

After booking this hotel we read the reviews and thought we had made a terrible mistake and almost cancelled. However, after due deliberation and because we had to be in Norwich for the set days we did stay at the hotel. We now have to write this review to put the record straight. The hotel was spotlessly clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly. We have graded it as we have due to the fact that it was extremely warm during our stay and despite the fact that there is no air conditioning we found electric fans in both rooms so had a very comfortable stay. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to our friends and would definately stay there again.
A warma nd friendly hotel

Stayed at Hotel 2 nights, 2nd time at Hotel. All staff a real credit to the organisation and so very friendly. Nothing too much trouble. Reading thru other people's reports, I can honestly say they must have stayed at another hotel! Sure, food is expensive and, in conversation I learnt that all Ramada jarvis Hotels have same menu which doesnt typify local cuisine etc. Limited choice after 2nd night i would forsee! Great table d'hote menu which does have all chef's own creations rather than usual Holiday Inn/Hilton/Brewers Fayre regurgitation. Great leisure facilities for older families and great resource for rainy day. Sure, Hotel is on outer ring road, sure theres an asda opposite, a McD's and a JD Weatherspoons opposite, but you take your choice and at least you can have some variation. Outside walking distance to city centre, but close to 3 park and rides we noted, so great base to visit norfolk, especially north norfolk. Hotel looks tired in places, but with so many new hotels going up now in their local area, I reckon a facelift will be on the cards soon. Don't disthis hotel; 70's exterior, but always a fresh welcome inside
Average hotel, not worth the money

Stayed for two nights on business trip. Main reason I stayed there was because there is a swimming pool and fitness suite. Went on the first day and there was an aqua aerobics class which meant that the pool as out of bounds and the (small) gym was full. The second day I got up early for a pre breakfast swim and there wer two old dears walking lengths, taking up the full width of the (albeit narrow) pool! Reception staff were terrible, had to wait five minutes to check out while I waited for the two receptionists to finish a row they were having. Also I ordered an iron and iron boardwhich never arrived. Breakfast was good, and service in the restaurant was acceptable. Room was big, but overall the hotel was tired, in need of a makeover. Not worth the £85 a night.
A complete dump

This has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. We booked online last minute and thought for the rate of almost £90 per night we might get a decent room. Oh no. The hotel is situated off a busy dual carriage way. It is in the middle of an industrial estate and the car park and exterior of the hotel are very grim looking and depressing. Inside is not much better. Given that the front of house is usually swankier than the bedrooms when you walk into reception you have reason to worry. The furniture is old and shabby, carpets are worn and wallpaper peeling. But still we thought there might be hope. No there wasn't. Our room was horrific. The carpets were bald and stained, the nets had holes in them, the window wouldn't close at night and alarms going off nearby prevented proper sleep. The bathroom was grubby and there were pubes on the shower curtain (sorry but it is true). The bed was a tiny double and very rickety. The next morning I had bites on my arms and stomach, possibly from the flea ridden room?! I demanded to be moved, and to her credit the member of staff on reception was excellent. Although I was rather worried that she studied the room plan for about 10 minutes whilst looking for a 'nice room'. The one we moved to was considered their best double. It was ok, at least I didn't want to shoot myself after five minutes in there. Breakfasts are mediocre, the staff continually ask for your room number as if you might try and steal someone else's cold toast and greasy bacon. All in all I'd say stay there if you have no other choice, but be warned!!!
disappointment

We stayed here a few days ago and won't be staying again. The reception staff were a credit to the company and were excellent and friendly, the rooms needed an update as they were plain & boring and desperately in need of air conditioning. BUT!! The food!! There was a big convention in town which made the hotel completly full, however this happens every year so you'd think they'd be used to it. We received a menu which had been preplanned no a la carte, which wasn't very inspiring anyway, 3 courses £17.95. When we received our courses we couldn't believe that someone could call it food it was small not properly cooked and just awful we went to Mackie D's over the road and the 2nd night went to a nice Italian in town. The buffet breakfast was better but the restaurant staff we unbelievably rude and disorganised. If you do have to stay at this hotel go somewhere else for the food.
Very Forgettable
from marshall
A shabby hotel worth staying at if you're a business traveller and just need somewhere to sleep for the night. Front desk staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are on the average side of "OK". Restaurant service is terrible (like too many hotels they try to save costs by employing teenagers to wait tables rather than adults). Dinner will take at least 2 hours even when they are not busy. Expect to have to ask for a bottle of wine at least 3 times before it eventually arrives half an hour later. Food is at best average. All in all, a totally forgettable experience.
Not Very Good!
from A TripAdvisor Member
This Hotel isn't very good. It is a bit run down and in need of refurbishment. The breakfast is OK but you cannot fit much of the cooked breakfast on the tiny side plates they provide for it. The staff in the restaraunt seem too preoccupied with talking to each other about where they went the previous evening rather than serving the guests. The service for evening meals is very poor and the food isn't brilliant so you're probably better off venturing out into Norwich Centre. I am used to staying at Hiltons for a very simialr price and quite frankly, this isn't a patch on a Hilton. The rating I have given is probably generous but perhaps I caught them at a bad time.

My wife and I have just stayed here for 3 nights and would like to correct some of the points in the previous review. We found the staff very helpful, the room was good and had everything in working order. The shower was one of the best ever. The swimming pool was excellent... more
