this is not a 4 star hotel, nice hotel with lovely breakfast and staff helpful, room comfortable enough but toilet very smelly, complained about this but nothing was done, so dissapointed by this, also last night water coming through ceiling, reported this to reception to be told they would email maintenance, had to move all clothes from wardrope in case ceiling fell in, Not really a great fan of Blackpool but thought a nice hotel would make a difference, but sorry for the money they charge not justified as 4 star, went to Hot ice show, which wasnt great Im afraid, very good skaters but music dreadful.. anyway overall hotel acceptable but wouldnt recommend it, no facilities for children. Think I will give Blackpool a miss from now on........

i booked this hotel as a suprise for my husband birthday, i wanted something a bit up market and thats what we got the rooms were very clean and modern, beds were very comfortable as well. the staff were very helpful and polite, we unfortunatle got locked out of our room it turned out to be a mechanical fault in the door, as we were out of our room for a couple of hours we were given free drinks late check out the next date breakfast in bed and a free 1 night stay in september for me my husband and 2 kids. i cannot find 1 single fault about this hotel if you want up market and close to pleasure beach this is the hotel you want. a special thankyou to grant and the night staff who looked after us.

STAYED FOR 2 NIGHTS IN THE SUPERIOR FAMILY ROOM BED AND BREAKFAST.
BEFORE ARRIVING WE REQUESTED A ROOM WITH A VIEW OF THE ROLLER COASTER, IN WHICH WE WERE ALLOCATED. THE ROOMS WERE CLEAN, AND THE VIEW OF THE ROLLER COASTER WAS GOOD FOR THE KIDS, BUT IN MY OPINION I WOULD SAY IT WAS NOT 4 STAR MORE LIKE 3 STAR. THE TOILITRIES THAT ARE PROVIDED FOR 2 NIGHTS WERE ENOUGH SHAMPOO, CONDITIONER AND SHOWER GEL FOR ONE PERSON. THE QUALITY OF THE FURNISHINGS WERE NOT OF A HIGH STANDARD.
THE HOTEL ITSELF DID NOT CATER FOR KIDS, THERE WAS NOTHING IN THE HOTEL FOR KIDS TO DO. BREAKFAST WAS SELF SERVICE, AND THERE WAS PLENTY TO CHOOSE FROM, IN MY OPINION IF YOU HAVE KIDS IS TO LOOK FOR ANOTHER HOTEL IT WAS NOT WORTH THE PRICE JUST FOR THE VIEW.

Went to Blackpool as surprise and last minute trip for my two children ages 9 and 5. The Hotel is everything you could ask for. Great breakfasts self-service however if you wish they will offer table service. We ate there each evening 2 adults and 2 children 2 mains and 2 desserts came in at £60.00 each night food was good. Pot belly pork was to die for. I found the bar a tad bit expensive at £3.75 a pint, whilst the Star bar which they also own was only £2.00 and practically the same building, and a nice family room.
The rooms were A1 we booked a superior family room, the kids had there own section with a TV EACH. Rooms where spotless and would give the appearance of been brand new. The kids loved the fact that the Big One went passed the room window. (Room 307) Almost within touching.
All in all a great spot and the staff are like the hotel well turned out and very nice.
First time in Blackpool and will be back. Well done Ryanair for flying to this great spot for free, I will be back for the illuminations in September, and will recommend Blackpool to all I meet.

Went with my wife and 2 year old son for a weekend and thought it was miles better than staying in any B&B.
The room was spacious and also childproof, which was a big factor for us. Food was great and staff there were really helpful and polite.
Well recommended.

Booked an overnight stay, deluxe room with breakfast at the Big Blue Hotel through last minute.com. We arrived at 12 noon and were told that we could not check in until after 3.00 p.m.
We said no problem, parked our car in the car park, and went to the pleasure beach where we stayed until 9.00 p.m. When we then tried to check in we were told that our daughter’s room had no booking and that we would be transferred to another hotel.
We were placed in the Hilton which was okay but not what we had booked, we had booked the Big Blue as a special treat as it was my daughters 21st birthday. We chose the Big Blue for a number of reasons, therefore the Hilton was not our choice, and we were greatly disappointed.
I have since taken the matter up with last minute who, after three weeks, are still awaiting a response from the Big Blue.
I am of the opinion that they re-sold our room (we had already paid for this and there was no reason to assume that we would not arrive), all I can say is be ready to check in at 3.00 p.m. Sharp or they will sell your room!
Very disappointed customer who is still trying to get compensation.

Stayed for 2 nights on business. Usually stay at the De Vere but was fully booked due to police conference. Was pleasantly surprised by this hotel.
Reception was very inviting with large wall mounted tropical fish tank. Hotel on the whole very clean, food was good with a great selection at breakfast.
Although staff where extremely helpful, a lot of staff were foreign and did not understand my request at times.
For families who like Blackpool I would give it 7 out of 10.

We booked a night away from the kids for our anniversary and loved the full set up of this hotel.
We sneaked a peak at the family rooms & they were great, a separate bedroom for the kids with bunks & decorations.
We booked an executive king suite which was better than expected, the bed was huge, I have a super king size & it was bigger than that! Everything had a contemporary feel to it, natural colours with faux suede.
The bathroom was all marble with soft spot lights, bath, and power shower, shaving/make up mirror, standard mirror, toiletries, & very thick soft towels.
We had an internet point, TV, DVD player (DVDs could be rented from reception) in room menu (we had some pizzas sent up) an abundance of tea, coffee, chocolate making facilities. Lush fire place with soft lighting, faux fur fireside rug, sofa, chair & foot stool, built in wardrobes, telephone, hairdryer, trouser press etc....the list is endless
The staff at reception are very polite & the marine fish tank behind them is to die for, I could have looked at it all day.
We came down for breakfast expecting the usual continental or fry up but was told it was a 7 (yes, 7) course breakfast with 13 different teas, 8 coffees & 3 hot chocolates to choose from.
We also stopped on for Sunday lunch (another 5 courses) and couldn’t fault any of it... although I must have gone up a dress size that day!
Personally I can’t stand Blackpool (my boyfriend lives just 10 miles away so I see way to much of the place) but this is nothing like the usual crusty old B+B's that frequent our good old British sea side towns.

It was a pleasure to stay at the big blue hotel, the location is fantastic for the beach, pier and its literally a minute walk to the pleasure beach entrance.
The hotel room was extremely modern with lovely decorations. The bed was probably the best I have ever stayed in and could have slept about 10 it was so big, the room had a sofa and fireplace which were both lovely and a canvas picture of the pleasure beach at night on the wall which I liked.
We had a meal in the restaurant in the evening and then had the breakfast buffet in the morning which was fantastic, such a wide range of foods.
The reception staff were extremely pleasant, the nicest I have seen while visiting a hotel
I would definitely recommend this hotel and I will be staying again.
