Very Disappointed

May 2011, Biteurlegs

Stayed here for wife's 50th Birthday - Very disappointed. On arrival i thought we'd walked into a funeral parlour. The reception area is Black, dark and dingy. The so called 'Superior' room decor was also Black with black lampshades, black blinds with such a small window, Black and white pictures on the walls, heavy dark furniture. It was so darkly depressing. I found a thick layer of dust on the main dressing table so I wrote 'CLEAN ME' in it under the telly. It was still there when we left. At breakfast we were met at the door by by a bearded chap who appeared to be fed up and not interested. No 'Good Mornings' or 'Welcomes' just led to a table and 'You can sit here if you want ' ! ! The wife had a pamper session booked, she enjoyed the massaging bit but she was suprised at how disorganised the staff were, they appeared to have no idea what was happening. Altogether it was not enjoyable and we will NOT go again.

Aug 2008, Mr A Rayner

My partner and I stayed in a "superior" room over the weekend on a bed and breakfast basis. The cost of £154 was, allegedly, less than the usual cost. In as much as the hotel probably ticks sufficient boxes to allow it to qualify as a 4 star rated hotel, it is, in my opinion, nowhere near what could be regarded as being of 4 star quality. There was no welcome tray as promised. The room, despite being classed as superior, was clean and tidy, but little better than those found in a Travel Inn. Breakfast was fine, with a large range of freshly cooked items on offer. Take the advice given in the hotel literature and go before 9.00 as it does get very busy after that time.
I wouldn't dream of staying at Heron's Reach again and would not recommend it to anyone.

I am a big fan of the De Vere range of hotels. I have stayed in many and have yet to be disappointed! We booked this hotel to take our children to see the Blackpool Illuminations.
The hotel is a four star rated hotel with many facilities such as a leisure club, golf course, restaurants, bars, and conference suites.
The pool is great and has a jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and sanarium attached. They also have squash courts and golf course and a gymnasium and also a beautician onsite. There is plenty to do even if it just a stroll around the golf course on the bridal path that goes all the way round the hotel grounds.
The breakfast is a buffet style of hot and cold selections. I have never seen so much choice before. The staff are friendly and welcoming. A definite 4 star luxury hotel.

Poor quality hotel, even though...

Poor quality hotel, even though awarded 4 stars by the AA, poor quality throughout.
Long queues in the morning for breakfast!
Poor quality rooms which were dated and poor facilities! Noisy between rooms, could hear other residents in the toilet!
Management were very poor and did not help!
Overall the hotel looks good, but save your money, you would get a better night’s sleep on booking a B&B on the sea front for £20 per night...
Don't bother!

Jul 2007, Mrs J Turner

This is the second time we have stayed at Herons Reach, the first was with the family 16, 13 and 11 and then with friends (couple).
Both occasions we thoroughly enjoyed everything about this hotel (it does need air conditioning though) The facilities are very good with swimming pool, sauna, and jacuzzi.
There are beauty treatments available and there are squash courts tennis courts and of course a golf course. It is quite expensive to play a round of golf but I negotiated a price when booking.
The hotel is in lovely grounds and you can’t believe you are in Blackpool. However the front is a fair distance away it is behind Stanley Park ( beautiful park )next to the zoo we never ventured in to the centre anyway.
The service and food are very good you are well looked after (as you would expect in a De Vere).
