We only went on a mad adventure for a weekend, so booked on the cheap side. For a 2* hotel, it wasn't bad for just an overnight stay, but wouldn't recommend any longer for comfort. They have tried to refurbish, but is a bit of a mish-mash!

We had to rearrange our room or in the night we would have struggled to get by the table with tea/coffee maker on without a climb & anyway I could then use it as a bedside table, which I didn't have. The cupboard on the other side, an expensive looking piece, had a mock drawer, so couldn't be used! No wardrobe, just a modern, open hanging rail. The double bed had an expensive looking slatted base with a leather surround into which had a very soft, lumpy mattress - not the orthopedic ones advertised.

The bathroom had a super luxury power shower with all sorts of sprays coming from everywhere, under a ceiling that was peeling paint & rotting! A light over the small sink that was hidden by a large mirrored cupboard. No shelves anywhere to put wash things. I almost broke the toilet seat lid when I sat on it to dry my feet, as the plastic started bending in. Could have been a nasty accident! We were lucky to find our room as no light in corridor & the number on the wall was worn away. No sleep until after 3am as we were right over a bar open until 2.30 a.m.

The bar in the hotel was ok & we enjoyed a nice carvery there, except the veg which was not cooked at all! Breakfast was normal, but no service or offer of more coffee/tea - they disappeared. Not the cleanest of places, 1* for that. The staff though, we couldn't fault. Lovely, welcoming, warm chatty people.

You can see they are trying to get it right & I'm sure it will improve in time. Oh!, & please put a sign up in the ladies toilet with instructions that to get water out of the taps on the super, duper, circular wash stand you have to put your foot on the button on the floor. I found it by default. And why are there hairdryers in there? It's all Irish to me!
